Lost My Best Friend

Really don't know what to say.
You old timers have seen many a pics of Ruff Ruff with all kinds of feathered critters.
Never been a better friend or companion.
Ruff has been everywhere with me.
Ruff Ruff was 14 and a half and happy until a couple days ago.
He got hamburger and the best. Sad, couple days ago he did his best to eat.
Ruff Ruff was a house dog, pet mostly. Couldn't hold it down, totally would mess for no reason in the house, crawled as best he could to get outside. [I had been lifting and carrying him in and out for a month or so].
Then he had this sad doggy look and I knew it was time.

So? I know Ruff Ruff was only a dog. Why is it so hard?

The only reason I'm burdening Y'all is cause you are all dog people.

Sorry for your loss.

It's hard because our dogs look right past our flaws and are eager to see and be with us whenever we give them the time. Sometimes the only consolation is knowing we give back what we can and make their stay here as comfortable and full as we can.

best regards-

Mnmthunting, Iâ??ve lost a few myself including a 4 month old lab pup last November. I've found that Keeping very busy for awhile really helps to keep the mind off things and just makes it a little bit easier to get through.

It amazes me how attached we get to those darn dogs. Losing them is one of the few things in life that WILL make a grown man cry like a baby.

Sorry for your lose friend, and just hang in there. The pain will numb with time. --1pheas4

If one of those little face icons on here had tears flowing down like rain, I would post it along with my comment...There is no explaining it to anyone, except for fellow dog people who totally understand! Sorry for your loss... :(

So sorry for your loss, you will always have the memories of the good times with your best friend. He had a good long life and I'm sure you gave him the best life he or any dog could wish for.

It is never easy to loose a true devoted loving friend. I am sure he had a great life and was loved. I know the feeling to loose a great buddy, never gets easy. Hang in there buddy.

It's more than a dog. The good ones, maybe not even the best hunter, but the best companion, the ones either born into the partnership or from acquisition, just seem to know your moods and never cause you one bit of grief ever. I've been lucky enough to have two of those. I don't have either now. But they are the measuring stick of all others, even though I know it's not fair, and I keep looking, but don't really expect to find another. My condolences.

I am so sorry for your loss, it hurts because he was more than just a dog, he was your friend he loved you no matter what, its never easy I have lost two young pups in the last two years and it hurt, I carry one of their dog tags on my key ring, but remember all of the good times you shared and in time all wounds heal.

Hang in there. It is hard for every one on here, if we said different we would be miss informing. Hope you feel better soon, and you do always have those great memories. Take care

Sorry to hear of your loss. I have a big male Chessie who is turning 14 in Jan. He is having a tougher and tougher time each day. I know the dreaded day is coming for him also. Wishing you the best, it's tough to loose a member of the family.

Sorry for your loss. Why is it so hard...; you said it best, "lost your best friend". Here's hoping the healing goes quick and the pitter patter of puppy feet grace your doorsteps soon. Remember: "all dogs go to heaven"!

all dogs go to heaven and my 10 year and my 2 year old pups are like my kids to me . The only difference is I spoil em

Probably the hardest thing I have ever had to do is make the call to put your best friend down, It will bring the toughest man to tears.
Sorry about your loss.:(

Wayne so sorry for your loss, I know how hard it I did that 11 years ago with one very good Brittany. He just could not function anymore. 'll admit I cried for a few days..........Bob

Sorry for your loss. These things are never easy no matter how well you prepare yourself. I have one myself that is going on 14 and no longer can hunt. I'm preparing myself, but I know I cry like a baby when the day comes.
