Lost My Best Friend

It is hard. All to hard. I'm sorry for your loss. My dogs are like family. They are the ones that will never leave your side no matter how bad it gets. I dread the day I will lose my lab. He is everything I could have asked for in a hunting dog and he never left my side through all the sleepless nights while I was getting divorced. He keeps me grounded and sane.

Know how you feel, Just let my boys pup get killed by the neighbors bull this morning in my front yard. Did all we could to get Bo away but he protected my lab to the end. God why do we have to learn these lessons so often. Will have hamburger in about 2 weeks as Little Turtle sighted in his .243 on the bull. Hard thing to swallow but life has to go on. I am ordering a head stone for Bo in the morning. Funeral will be at 4pm Monday. Going to put him right beside my Ladie dog. Maybe she can hunt him with Gramps or someone else that will take care of them up above.

man that really sucks turtle I feel bad for the kid but he did a good thing he put food on the table for the family 1 hard life lesson learned among many to come

Ruff Ruff a Lucky Dog

He had a long life in a caring home with a great master and got to do what he was created to do. No dog could ask for more.

I put my own 15 yr old "daughter" down a couple weeks ago and haven't gotten over it either. Told my wife it was the hardest thing I had ever done. Have had a lot worse things happen to me, but none where I made the decision. Have had other dogs, and loved them all, but none like that one. I wonder how many of the good ones we get in a lifetime? Probably directly related to the total number we get, but maybe not. Maybe it has something to do with when the dog comes along--for me the last 15 years have been the most eventful and memorable years so far. She was, and will always be, the "best dog out of the back of a truck," regardless of any others that come along.

I hope you get at least one more and I hope everyone on this list gets at least one.

Thanks you guys, and very sorry for the losses you have had. Is it worth it to get so attached to a dog?
I have Cooper a 7 year old and RD 15 months, both very good pups and go with me everywhere. Helps for sure.
I remote camped again at the same spot as all those years with Ruff Ruff. Always year after year he remembered the spot. There's this old Cottonwood deadfall that always holds squirrels. No matter how tired from hunting, he would get so excited, couldn't wait to check it out. Well Coop and RD checked it out.
