Vikings News

Correct me if I am wrong, but first time offenders get 6 games correct? So, Rice will be able to come back( if he finds a team) as well as some of these others? Arbitraitors are going to play a big role I think in getting these guy's back. There is a players union that has held pretty silent. I bet it will change. I can't or don't know enough about AP's second accusation. I think the first one will stick and he will be out 6 games. Seems odd how Goodell has been Awol of late. Probably more lawyers getting into the mix.

If you heard the press conference yesterday, AP will be out until his legal case is resolved. Since it is likely his day in court will not be until 2015, it is unlikely he will be re-instated until then which means the entire season. The only chance he makes it back before then would be some plea bargain deal, but listening to his lawyer it sounds like they're going to court.

Let's say he did do a plea bargain and effectively admitted guilt, then I could see the NFL stepping in with their own suspension for violation of league code of conduct concerning domestic violence. Then you may see the 6 game suspension. This is all speculation of course.

AP is probably looking at some jail time?
He is also approaching or is at the age of "losing a step"
I feel very sorry for a child that is in an domestic abuse situation. As a die hard Viking fan I just want to move on. Hope this whole deal will help with the domestic abuse situations in the future.

I don't think Rice or Peterson will ever play another NFL game. Rice will maybe allowed back, but what team would take him? AP no way, people will not forgive that type of behavior.

The bad press just doesn't end. Now I hear the Running back for Arizona (Dwyer) was arrested on some sort of domestic violence charge and a women and child were involved. He too was deactivated from playing.

Just when you thought the NFL couldn't receive any more bad press..

Unfortunately, I believe this has gone on for a long time in the NFL. It has been swept under the rug or just plain ignored. The women in most of these cases don't want to lose that money train so I'm quite certain most of it goes unreported.

The Wilfs made a bad decision to bring back AP and then dismiss him again at 2:00 AM after the public outcry. Should have gotten it right the first time.

It will be interesting to see how the Ray Rice appeal plays out from a legal standpoint.

Goodell is AWOL and if they find out he was lying about seeing the Ray Rice video, he is gone.

Interesting time for the NFL indeed.

Good thing I got Birdshooter! You are my newspaper.. I didn't hear that until you had mentioned it and now I see it on ESPN... I guess as long as they pay the players the majority of them(players and agents) will not care as much about not being able to play. It will probably effect them not being around their team mates more....Sad situation for all involved. I don't think the ratio of abuse is any different within the regular population even though it looks skewed towards NFL players. Still a bunch of good guy's out there!! Thanks again Birdshooter for helping me out!

Goodell is in this up to his ass!

I bet there is going to be some standardized Contracts for anyone signing a new contract. Something the owners can be sure of where they can protect their so called investment. Paying these players going forward or being on the hook for so much money should be a thing of the past if they decide to get into trouble. I know now there are some avenues they can take, but the team should not be penalized with the CAP numbers and signing bonuses. Change is coming for sure...

That said, I believe in second chances. Maybe not with the same team. But they need to show that it is a privledge to play and not a right and correct and make good on everything they are asked to do before reinstatement at league minimum pay to start.

For these kids coming out of college and have had multiple run ins with the law, they should get a lot less money even if they are a first round pick ...Make them accountable before they get to the NFL.

Well, the Vikes did better today than I expected. If it hadn't taken 2 series for the defense to get going it would have been a different game. Also that roughing the passer call in the 2nd half when they sacked Brees on a 3rd and long really hurt. I think it was a good thing that Cassel got hurt. Without AP on the team we need a QB that can move. Teddy looked good and with more first team practice and more playing time I think he could turn into something special. But with AP out we are in desperate need of a quality running back. Asiata and McKinnon just aren't going to get it done. I thought they activated Banyard. He had a very good pre-season, why not give him a try??

They are already protected. They could cut ties with any of them at any time but won't if they are super talented like peterson. Bowe, the underachieving alligator armed wide receiver for the chiefs, lost his guaranteed money when he got caught smoking dope. That allows the chiefs to cut ties with him at any time and pay him NOTHING as Shultz would say. I am sure peterson has the same moral type deal in his contract but he is too good of a player for them to just cut him. It all comes down to money. The vikings were forced into action when the money faucet started to get shut off.

AP has already received his Guaranteed money. He is being paid off in his salary for 2014, funny thing? Paid off to keep away from the NFL.

The Vikings will cut AP during the off season and his contract is void. No Money will be paid to AP for the 2015 season that's it. And some 2 million will still effect the salary cap for the Vikes for 2015.

AP will be 30 by then and of little value to any NFL team, He's done.

I saw the following on Facebook.

I set me DVR to record "Biggest Loser" and it keeps recording Minnesota Vikings games instead.

I'm a Vikings fan but still got a chuckle out of it.

Take the HGH away with the new testing and the skilled players go back the way used too be. They hit 30 and they fall apart fast!

It's TEDDY TIME! I know it's only the first half but you have to be excited about how the Vikings have played today. If they can pull off the upset it would be HUGE! But Atlanta is an explosive team and there's a half of football to play.

He showed what the hype is about. All through pre season and now against the big boys. This guy looks like a Wilson remake and a real deal. Sure would be nice to have the rest of the team and AP with it. Kicking Atlantas rear is huge. They finally looked like they decided to move on and play for team instead of AP. Hope Teddy is feeling good for GB. Sure would hate to see us back to blonder again.

Could the Vikes play any worse? Ponder shouldn't even be on the team. He has to be the worse QB in the NFL. Different game if Teddy was in there. The Vikes probably still don't win but it wouldn't be 28-0 at half time.

That was UGLY !!

Ponder has to be one of the biggest 1st round draft pick busts of all time..... Ok.... maybe not quite what Ryan Leaf was, but close.

As bad as Ponder played, he wasn't the only one that stunk it up. Plenty of bad play to go around on both sides of the ball.

Ponders passes have always been a yard or two off.
He sure got hit a lot.
Wonder if that practice squad guy they picked up from Indy will back up Teddy?:)
O line didn't go to GB to play.
