Local radio KFAN here in Twin Cities has Fran Tarkenton on every Friday afternoon during the Football season. Always entertaining listening to scrambling Fran talk, he so brutally honest and animated with his opinions.
Anyway, he was talking about the game last night and specifically said Christian Ponder should get on with his life as he simply doesn't have what it takes to play at the professional level. He goes on to say that natural talent is not something that can be coached up.... In other words you either have what it takes or you don't, simple as that. He used the great players on the Vikes in his day as an example, Allen Page, Carl Eller and Jim Marshall all could would have been the same regardless of who was coaching them. Even Bud Grant himself has been an adamant preacher that it's players that win games, not coaches.
Agree with him or not, he is always entertaining to listen to and you have to admit, he played the game at a high level for 18 years at the QB position, so I would tend to take his word on Ponder's future as a QB at the pro level.
Oh... and he really likes Bridgewater. Says he has that "something" provided he stays healthy, to be a real good QB.
