The great debate!

Setter: Seriously? I mean, Check. Mate.

Gatz. That look. Dang.

:cheers::10sign:

Mac sort of looks like Triumph the Insult Comic dog.

I have never seen any dog other than a Lab (black) make a retreive like the second pic.:cheers:

Steve

LOL.....Steve I don't know what to say man. If my wife caught me posting something like that.......oh man.......LOL.

Daisybuck, you did it! Pic came up. Nice job on the grouse. Looks like a real sweetheart of a dog you've got there.

And no, that black dog in the last picture is not a lab, its and old Gordon Setter :p

Nothing better than setter, on point, regardless of the color! Only thing I'm wondering, with those high class dogs, what are you doing shooting hen quail? Those paragons of virtue, rest in peace, only shot roosters on purpose. For any other bile or drivel, I have others rhubarbs! Nice pics, from a old time setter guy.

Wow now we have black lab porn. This is awesome

Yeah but his actually borders on porn. Best dog face ever. Period. Is it wrong that I'd like to borrow the dog? Yes. Yes it is. Gatz for the win.

Seriously, I have always had a little envy for the pointer set. Thin, handsome and athletic with great pedigrees and smart names that imply eons of fine ancestry. Then you get a grubby yellow dog who smashes hedgerows and flushes roosties not because I trained him to (he'd never been up against one before) but because it was in the very fiber of his being -- so much so that he got his first retrieve in *spite* of my commands.

Go back 11 pages and see: Even the mods agree: The pups are the reason we do this. We can buy chicken for a fraction of the cost of keeping these beasts. BUt to see them at work? I am humbled.

Oh, I can't resist: Pointy guys: If you can't be with the ones you love, love the ones you're with! :D

As much as I hate to say it... Gatzby for the win!:cheers:

This has been fun guys and I think everyone took the ribbing in the good spirit that was intended :thumbsup:

I enjoy seeing your dogs in action, and it is a lot easier to get a picture of a dog pointing than it is when they are flushed.

Or it could be that with the pointing dogs you get a lot more birds :D

Very nice quail hound, you need to post the pics more often, the season is still a ways off and we need to get our fix.

I sure wish we had more kinds of birds to hunt around here, only have bobs, phesants and a few Prairie Chickens.

And tons of turkeyes. The dogs are not used to hunt turkeyes, but they do point them from time to time.

hey Setter none I mean nut.:D:cheers: More birds chased out of the field or not retrieved you mean? Us flusher folks like team work, the dog doing the puttin up the bird for us. And retrieving them to hand. 167 wild tails in this pic. 1 from every bird this dog flushed and retrieved in 3 states with friends. Nuf said:D Oh, and in one year. Never paid for a single one.

:D Now to address the Flabradore problem. Do they give out knee replacement gift certificates with them now when you buy a pup?
If Flabradores could talk, they would tell you to quit trying to teach us past the 3rd grade level. We just don't have it in us. Thats why we toss birds in the air to shoot at our trials, LOL. You don't expect us to run around and find one of those filthy critters in the grass do you? And my ACL's are shot by then any way. Flabradores are petitioning to have the medicare for dogs program put in place.:thumbsup: For them at age 2. Everyone else at 14.
:cheers:

If my labs could talk they would a) immediately demand more food and then b) compliment their springer colleagues on those fancy vests their owners make them wear so they don't get torn to shreds in heavy cover. :p

Or what the labs would call, a light brushing... :rolleyes:

Seriously FC, it's not really fair to weigh in on this... Mr. ``More letters behind my dogs' names than the alphabet.'' :cheers:

:D:coolpics::cheers: They make dog vests?

No Letters behind the names of any dog I own. Close, but none still the same:D Hey Flabs are good at fishing too? Jack of all trades, Master of none.:thumbsup: Except the hot dog eating contest at the local fair.:laugh:

Hey Setter Nut, how did you get that dog to retrieve that bumper? Fill it with dog biscuits?

Here's why I've got to have Labs on my upland hunts.

Its really pretty simple and I would have thought that a retriever guy would know how, I throw it out there and then command him to fetch it :)

Well it sure took a lot of podding to get you guys to post some pictures of you dogs in hunting situations, I was getting worried that it was all talk :)

Good bunch of pictures and dogs you guys have.
