The great debate!

Hey JS, I been there.

And you have been here.:)
I seem to be able to get a bird or 2 once in a while with only Labs, a silly chocolate one at that.:eek::cheers:

Labs just know when to shut their engines off -- no unnecessary charging around -- get your limit and get back to loafing. Just like they instinctively understand that you better eat all you can hold (and then some) `cause you don't know when the next meal might be coming.

They're very wise. ;)

All my labs where just like as you say Daisy. They'd turn "on" in the field then turn "off" once we were done and in the house. It was nice. My lab "Hauss" in my avatar was just like that. I loved that dog's style.:)

It's very unfortunate for me and my wife now. Our lab (Winston) does not turn "off". First lab I've owned that can hunt 5 days straight and wake up like it's his first day out. Great for the field but a nightmare in our house. My wife hates this this dog. lol Never again.

Here's a few of my boy Hauss. Put him down last August. I miss that dog a lot.

The last time he was out pheasant hunting wild birds.

Chilling out as we where pass shooting pheasants 2001 ?

continued from my previous post #70

Winston's first duck hunt--he did great for his first time out. It was nice watching him retrieve birds.

Winston and Hauss just before Hauss was put down.

Nice pictures SetterNut. You dog is beautiful dude. Love the upland mixed bags too:thumbsup:

Do you have any photos with the dog after a waterfowl hunt?:D:cheers: (O' boy. I probably opened a can of worms with that one:eek:)

1pheas: Boy I do not look forward to making that decision you made with Hauss. I told my wife to get me a bottle full of anti-depressants the day Daisy (OK, or Buck) needs to take that ride. Your Ol' Boy looks like he could take it to `em. Tough to see Daisy slowing down (though that is a plus for grouse.) Great pictures, everybody. I'd put some up but I killed my camera phone. :(

I'd sooner saw off a leg and hop than hunt without my labs. Heh.
I'd sooner leave my gun behind than my labs.
I'd sooner get punched in the face by Mike Tyson than leave my labs behind.
I'd sooner tie a bag full of weasels over my head than hunt without my labs.

How's that?

Thanks I really like them.

I used to hunt some waterfowl, but sitting there freezing when I could be out following a pointing dog .... and eating ducks is not high on my menu. The only thing that eats worse than a duck is a prairie chicken

My neighbor loved to hunt duck. and had a really nice lab. He was great in the heavy cover on pheasants. But when we got out of the bottom ground into the grass and crops, the setters were the show.

Here some more Setter work.

One of those Ducks I mean Prairie Chicken.

This is the pig (Daisy). She is spayed and there will likely not be another like her. This was less than one hour of work (and beyond out-of-my-mind shooting) for her on a hot early Autumn day.

Girl's old, tired, and still ready to go.

LoL........SetterNut, you're alright in my book. Can throw some $h!^ out, but don't mind taking some in too.

P.S.--Under cook those ducks, geese, and chickens my friend. Under cook them. Then decide.;)

DaisyBuck, It sucks man. But as we all know, it's apart of life. I like your sayings.

Pheasants and sharpies. Check out the terrain, other than the clump of russian olives this is BIG country with miles of grass. The dogs look better off than the hunters!

I have never seen any dog other than a Lab (black) make a retreive like the second pic.

Daisy, try to reload the picture. For some reason it's not coming up.:)

Dang. Finally find some images and then this... Rats. Hang on. By the way, South of the Border folks (like Iowegians) These are ruffed grouse. They make pointers into flushers... And computers make me look like an idjit.
