Topic to stir it up some

long haired dogs and short haired dogs

it is a lucky dog that has an owner that gives it love, brags about it and then gets some really good use out of it when it is not on the furniture.

cheers

Nope, haven't hunted BW with a flusher. Pointer either. :(

When I do, I have the Britt. Sooner then later.

Ready set go!

Me, I run 2 Brittany's with my lab. I have had brit /lab combos for 20 years and it seems to work well for me.

Kick"em Up!

No debate here, just the cold hard truth:rolleyes: Brittanys are excellent couch dogs, they lick the soup left over in ice cream bowls and keep you warm while watching Monday night football. Now Labs are good, feed em 2 lbs. per day of dog food and you get 4 lbs. of manure for the garden. Only bad is Labs beg all visitors for food cause of only getting 2 lbs. a day!:D Get a Setter for hunting!

mutts

you guys have been spending far too much time reading Spaulding Hoffhacker
those setters are ok if you don't want to shoot birds and of course if you don't shoot any, you don't have to expect the dog to retrieve much less ever get wet should a bird by accident fall in the water. other than that do do really really well. the more people that hunt with setters means more birds available for people with real dogs

cheers

When it comes to upland bird hunting I'd put my Brittany up against any other dog regardless of breed. Hard running, bird finding and retrieving machine! I've been told by a number of other dog owners that she is one of the best pheasant dogs they have ever seen. And she's only one 1st place away from her NSTRA championship. For those that think Brittanys can't hunt or retrieve I invite you on a hunt with me!! :)

I have seen many great ones! I had a trio of an English setter bitch, a GSP bitch, and a pointer bitch. Hunted together, complete piece of mind, a walk in the country as a shooter. All three had specific qualities which enhanced the hunt. Fine individuals which stayed in the house, as much a joy in the off season as in the field. My point is they can be found, from any breed. If they fail, might consider the trainer!

dog types

I was thinking these post were to poke fun at all the mutts out there and not take it to heart, of course every blue moon a dog breed comes around and gets the job done, no doubt about it, to hunt with a good one, whatever they look like is a pleasure, but here, we a poking fun, lighten guys
cheers

Musti... you just love to stir the pot don't ya !;)

pot

this started out as a pot stirring post, don't get a thin skin. that reminds me there is a guy on this forum I think he lives in the n. e. part of Kansas, years ago he bought a setter of some type of which there appears to be several, after having it a few years and hadn't lost it, just to prove it wasn't a fluke, he went and bought a second one, according to some of his post, it seems that at the same time mind you, they both hunt the same section of land he does and at the same time no less. I think the last point they had were on turkey but hey, oh well!

cheers
