Needing a new elec collar

I've tried three brands and Dogtra is the best.

I use the cheapest sportdog I can find as long as it has tone. I think I only nicked JP a few times last year and one or two were on accident.

Dogtra. Durable as a farmers anvil!

Over the years, I've had problems with TriTronics, problems with Dogtra, but my SportDog collars keep working flawlessly.

Garmin/Tri-Tronics

I'm more loyal to that company than any other in the outdoor industry.

I have one of those high pitched dog whistles that works pretty good. If they still don't stop; shoot em in the ass. They'll near:D

my sport dog controler just bit the dust monday MN pheasant opener is saturday my luck i guess my sport dog lasted damn near 3 years to the day i baught it i thought it would go longer???

looking at garmin on sale 169$ or get a basic sport dog for 140$-150$ i will step up to gps collar soon but bad time for 1 of them at the moment...

maybe i trade both in & get a discount on astro at collar clinic in a few months???

I'm not sold on the GPS collars yet. The best Garmin has to offer has a 1 1/2 second delay on the GPS signal. As you guys know, a good bird dog can cover a lot of ground in a second and a half. I can see where it would help locating a dog on point, but I just can't see spending $7-800 for that.

I'm a Tri-Tronics fan. Had a sport dog and it quit after 3 yeas. I made the switch to Tri-Tronics because if for some reason I loose my remote or it does not work all my buddies use them. We can just quick sync my dogs to there remote. Buddy had a dead remote because he left it on. We just put his dog collar on my remote and were good to go! Also I can run 3 dogs at once so that is nice. There is a lot of options and I think most of the big brands are probably pretty good. Collar clinic has some refurbished ones. Cabelas does in the bargain cave as well some times.

I've got 2 collars for my 550, nice and easy to use, good battery life but my favorite is my Alpha, I ran three collars in South Dakota last year and it was pretty cool to see how far the dogs would travel in each field or all day, like to also known if I ever loose my money dog I have a chance of finding him.
It one expensive toy but cheap insurance to make sure I know where my pup is if we get separated.

You may not be sold, but it sure helps me relax! I always know where she is.

if u hunt wooded ruffed grouse areas or standing corn or rolling terrin i can see uses for a gps maybe im wrong but most guys get gps collars to never loose there dog then finding dogs on point in the above mentioned terrain come in 2nd 1-2-5 sec delay it dose not matter at least i know wear my dog would be if lost... knock on wood ive never had a run away lost dog out in strange lands or state...

is garmin & tri tronics under 1 company now or who did garmin join or buy out etc???
