Put my boy Ike down today. 17 great years old and although everything was shutting down, his nose never stopped. He was our first and greatest GSP. He will be dearly missed.

A very sad day, but you gave Ike the best possible life he could have had. Better get another one and do the same for it.

So sad for your loss Jmc. Good bye Ike, you will be dearly missed friend.

So sorry for your loss. You two had a good long run together and Im sure have enough memories to last another lifetime. Hang in there.

Sad to hear Jim! I put 2 of my greats down in October. You never quit looking for them! I'd like to feel the things that they feel. The smells, the way they watch us and know what we're going to do from reading our body language. I'm sure Ike had you pegged a dozen different ways:) God Bless!

JMc, Thanks so much for giving Ike the best of the best doggie life.
So hard to say good bye to such a faithful friend.
I feel for you, been there a few times. Doesn't make it easier I know.

A pup before long seems to help, not to replace but to add.

17 years is a good run but still way to short. Hang in there

Sorry for the loss. Great birddogs and hunting friends we lose, diminish us. I am always powerless to rationalize it, make sense of it, even to myself. There will be a great dog again, I have experienced that, but good moments of a great companion, will erase the current pain.

Jim, sorry for your loss. We have all experienced it, and it is never easy. Best therapy is to get back at it.

We have all felt your pain, and will again. God speed Ike!

Sorry to hear that Jim!!! I have had 2 make it to 16. It does not make it much easier even though you know it is the best thing to do!!!:(

Sorry for your loss. Time heals all, and puppies help a bunch, too. Sounds like you had a good long partnership with Ike.

Sorry for your loss...It's incredibly hard to do. All these dogs are heart breakers. It comes with the game we play. Remember the great hunts and nights sleeping in hotels. Take care

Jim, I am so sorry for your loss. We all have been there and know the pain of having lost a best friend. I feel your pain. It's never a thing that makes you feel good but It is something that is right to do. Sad for you buddy. :(

My condolences. Never easy, but you gave a great life to a great dog. Prayer sent.
