Here is my brittany, Gauge, and my cousins lab, Jake. They've had a lot of fun together and are pretty good hunting dogs.

Nice looking Britt. I had a liver/white Brittany, Rocky, that I had to put down last September at 13 years of age. And I have a liver/white female Brittany, Mattie, that is currently 6 years old. So I am partial to the liver/white Britts. In January I bought a orange/white female, Elle, that is now nearly 9 months old. It was tough to go away from the liver/white.

All of my dogs came out of Colorado. The two liver/white ones from a friend in Pueblo. My latest edition came from Godfather Gun Dogs just south of Denver. The breeder is Steve Chang. He has great dogs with some great pedigrees. I'm looking for super things from my new little female. Actually she's not so little, about 19.5" and nearly 40 lbs. and not quite 9 months.

It sounds like you've got some great dogs. I've seen Godfather Gund Dogs website, and hits dogs do look great. Yeeah, I love the way the liver and white dogs look. This is my first brittany, and have been extremely pleased with him.

True Hunters

I know this is a pheasant forum, but I figured you guys might enjoy these pics... It was warm, still and foggy on Saturday - very tough for the dog on our morning upland hunt so we packed it in early and swapped blaze orange for camo - headed out to the foggy mud flats to try for some waterfowl. We did OK considering the condtitions - managed a goose, two teal and a mallard.

We had some good laughs at Ruby's expense though, I've gotta say. First she fell off the edge of the mud flat and did a face-plant: "Phantom of the Opera (marsh?)".

Then after chasing down a goose in the mud she celebrated by finding and "smoking" an empty shotshell casing (she does this all the time for some reason). I looked over my shoulder and saw her sitting there, in true lab form, totally oblivious to the state she was in, "smoking" her 3.5" Fasteel Kent #2, and nearly wet myself laughing!

Brit pup

The first pic is Sam getting ready to run the public hunting grounds at Hillsdale. Bad hair day.

Second one is him pointing a single/quail at Hillsdale. Funny -- we had just finished running and he was looking at me with back to the bird, panting and anxiously waiting his water bowl. Corner of my eye I see this bird coming walking out of the cover towards us on the gravel road. It was getting close to sunset so I couldn't be sure it was a quail. Not until the scent cone hit my dog, he turned around slowly and held the bird until it got nervous and started running. What a beautiful thing -- first bird, 6 months of age. Week later he got a day full of chukar work in.

To my amazement southern i did hear some quail calling while i was running my pointers in that area we were talking about, that is a good area to work your dogs not to thick but thick enough, nice pics of your britts.

I was over on the West side yesterday between 255th and 263rd. They've mowed a lot of the thick cover down and left some cover strips (predator alleys IMO, wide enough for birds to think they are cover but actually too thin when hawks coming dive bombing) so it's easy to get in and out of and stretch the legs.
