Gun Control

The intent was to keep the citizenry as well armed as the government. When the government goes back to flintlocks, I will too. This argument does not wash.

Wow! You do know that we did not have a standing army at the time? Who are we protecting ourselves from? This is great comedy in this thread, a thread that has come undone and it twisting in the wind. I have to many real things in life to worry about other than the "they are coming to get me Glen Becks of the world".

I get a kick out of Glenn Beck. I like it best when he dresses up like a Nazi on TV:D. That dude made like a hundred mill one year. I would dress up too for a whole lot less than that:eek:

Laugh Out loud.

What point are you making???

Your point was that when the constitution was written that we did not have a standing army, navy, air force, or marines, not to mention coast guard, national guard, home land security, FBI, and heck the list goes on forever. What point are you trying to make??

A. The second amendment was written by our founding fathers to protect the first amendment "freedom of speech".

B. It was written so that no tyrannical government could control the people. You know, a government by the people, for the people, elected by the people, NOT RULED BY THE GOVERNMENT! I believe that is why they left England and many other places to come to this country, to escape tyranny.

I will give you a pass because you are new to this forum and I read all nine of your posts. Would you like to continue to post here? If so you got some explaining to do, Lucy.

Hunting isn't the reason for the 2nd even if a bunch of red coats died at the hands of hunters, farmers, and good ole boys with their squirrel guns.

You forgot one item: To have armed militiamen to call up when needed as was done in the Revolutionary War. Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution contemplates a need for future militia call-ups and the duty of states to provide militiamen when called to service by the Federal Government. Unarmed militiamen would provide no security to either a state or to the United States.

Thanks that is what I wanted was a pass from you... You can quote and make all the statements you want about 1st 2nd which ever... You can believe what ever you want about how evil or government is.. My comment was why do you need more than 5 shells to hunt.. But did not take long for pro's such as your self to take this to a crazy level of self protection.. Hell i dont care get a rocket launcher and dig a hole what ever makes you feel safe do it, its a free country.. So if you want to pull my 1st ammendment right go ahead. I did not mention anything about your right to own, fear, or create whatever you want to create out of this thread. I wanted to know why it would take more than 5 shells to bring down a 2lb bird. So yes LOL.. I was laughing about how it went viral from one open ended statement.

Here is my question.I have a Winchester model 12 16 gauge that can hold 6 shells in the magazine and 1 in the chamber, so that makes 7 that I can carry and that has been true since the 40s, why should that gun now be illegal in Colorado? As far as the five shells is concerned, if you come hunt here when the pheasants are bunched up you will quite likely shoot more than 5. Late season hunting when the birds are wild and you are shooting high fast flying pheasants you may empty your gun a couple times in a spot. I remember a time when I picked up 12 empties where a guy was blocking at one end of a food plot. But the main point is why does it matter to anybody else what my gun holds?

The first 3 shots are to push the bird to your sweet spot, the 4th shot is to take out his feet, so when he hits the ground he can't run. The 5th shot is to knock him out of the air!

Good luck having a civil discussion about guns or politics on here. But see I have turned over a new leaf:rolleyes:. On another note.....doing well on my other leaf turning too. Down 28lb's since Jan 5. Need to lose to keep up with 78 year old Jonny B:eek: He's a freakin machine:)

Here's from the "Machine"...congratulations on the weight loss - 28lbs - WOW, I probably won't recognize you. Surely you will feel the difference when you walk the fields. Am only 75, but probably act 78...

And what does your wife think about the "new you."

The "point person" in V. Nam apparently carried shotguns, not rifles/assault guns. The shotguns were open bore, cut off at 22" and they used #2 or 00 buck. They felt they could do more damage with this system than with assault type weapons.

I don't know if these guns were modified to hold more than 6-7 shells...but they were effective in those situations.

You shoot the same way I do.
