Dog Killer

I was out hunting today and ran into one of my biggest nightmares. It makes you think twice when walking into large plum thickets in Oklahoma. He was Over 250 lbs, over 5" tusks. I'm glad this one is no longer a free roaming "Dog Killer".

That's a nice sized boar my friend. We slay hogs here in the lowcountry (coastal South Carolina) and they're a huge issue. Unfortunately my buddy Allan just lost one of his buddies (oldest dog) the other day to one just like this.

You guy down in OK better get to killing them quick. Don't want to see any of them getting up here to KS.

I'm going to start hunting with a drilling and hunting horn if I'm going to run into that! Dang things are hard to kill with bird shot.

My dog caught a baby pig the other day, I guess he wants to take care of them before they reach problem size.

Wow! Good job. Fortunately, we don't have them up here & I hope it stays that way, no longer how much I'd like to shoot one.

Looks like I need to start taking and posting pictures of hogs before I leave South Carolina to head out y'alls way. McGillicuddy out.

Scary stuff OKIE. Way to take out the enemy. Up here in da nort land u can fall tru da ice but ain't much gonna kill in da woods like dem hogs don't cha know. U keep em down der my friend.

Don't speak so soon Chris, I know a woods down in southern MN that has some. I was up a tree for hrs. because one chased me up there. That was 20 years ago, and I am told there still there.

For the ones that do not want feral hogs running around, you may not have a choice. The ever expanding feral hog range has been excelled in recent years by passionate hog hunters deciding too transplant live hogs for increased recreational opportunities. Do a Google Search “Feral Hog Map” and you can see County Maps showing the range spreading North.

If you know of landowners with feral hog issues, educate them on the free Arial Services that the USDA can provide. It is a very effective eradication tool for these destructive SOB’s.

hogs

Id like to go hunt for a nice wild boar someday if i can find a decent place to hunet them. I can see how theyd be a nitemare on a dog owner though and glad they arent here in wv. Least not around my area

Texas is full of the damn things......we can't shoot them fast enough, ranchers hate them, some put a bounty on them like 'yotes.

Here is the last one we got, and yes my springers were in on the kill. They bayed him, the female didn't try to fight but my male had him by the ear. He took 2 loads of 3" #2 steel from my brothers 20ga. Just a little guy, went maybe 80lbs, no tusker like okies.

Yep... Used to have shoot to kill orders here in KS for feral hogs, for a population down by LaCygne Lake in SE KS. Last I heard the USDA came in with choppers and took care of the issue. I believe circa 2007 we were told in the regulations book to no longer pursue them...

Good job on the kill sir. I'd at least have a pistol when bird hunting down there.
