Forgive me for asking, but if pointing is not of any importance or needed then why the interest in the DD or Musterlander?
 
I also notice that you hunt pigs so maybe something that can also blood trail (like a dd). If so look at watchulhunds, its a German spaniel that also blood trails.
 
SallySue-Just curious why you ruled out labs? Of course, I'm biased.

Gosh I really cant give a good answer. I just like other breeds better . I have been hunting with a mutt now for 10 years and some of the stuff that I have read about some these other breeds remind me of my ole gal. In fact we ordered a D N A kit today to find out what breed she may be

A trainer once told me all dogs want to be labs, and all labs want to be black:). Not sure what this has to do with anything.......I am bored:mad:.
 
Check out German Wirehaired pointers! Even if you don't have a need for a pointer all the time, they can be fantastic general purpose hunters.
