High Point Dog

I am excited to announce that my 4 year old female Brittany, Elle, finished the year as the High Point Dog in the the Mid-North Region of NSTRA. She surprised me and a lot of others. This is a dog that has had no formal field trial training. In fact I have not spent any time working with her specifically for the NSTRA trials. She has done it all on natural ability. Not bad for a spoiled house dog! She is a joy to have in the field and is just as good as an upland bird dog. Elle truly is one of those "once in a lifetime" dogs.

Hey George,

Nice going and congratulations! Now you can charge $1500 for her pups!

I've had many guys want to breed to her but unfortunately I had her spayed at an early age. Didn't want to deal with the heat cycles and puppies.

Way to go Zeb, big congrats. Something you can be very proud of.

What is her pedigree like? Any particular line that is prevelant?

The reason I ask is I have a buddy who has a Britt that is getting up their in years and when it comes time for him to get another It would be good info.

I got her from Steve Chang at Godfather Gundogs in Colorado. http://www.godfathergundogs.com/

If you go to his web site her sire is Brady. You can read about Brady and see his pedigree there. Her dam was a dog by the name of Annie but i don't think Steve is breeding to Annie any more. In fact Brady will be 9 this year and getting toward the end of his breeding days also.

I'll post Elle's pedigree below. You will see it's a line breeding of NFC Bean's Blaze and loaded with other NFC's and FC's. Elle has been a wonderful dog. I'd be happy to share more info with you if you would like. Just shoot me a PM.

Congrats George, you now have your Dog of the Year invite, are you two going to go?

I would highly doubt it. I think our region sends the Regional Elimination Champion but if they don't go then the High Point Dog can go. I did go to the Purina Endurance in Lewistown, MT last September and advanced to the final day before getting beat. The Endurance is a beat your bracemate format all the way through. That really suits her better as she doesn't put up many real high point runs but does usually beat her bracemate. This season she has run 17 braces and beat her bracemate 14 times. The other guys don't like to draw her anymore. :)

Well done Ellie. I can only amagine the amount of hard work and time vested into recieving such honors. Look forward to many more to come in the future.

One might think that but it's just the opposite. I've spent very little time training her. As with all my dogs I stress obedience and then just get them in the field and on a lot of birds letting their natural abilities take over. With Elle I have spent virtually no time training specifically for the NSTRA trials. She has done it all on natural ability and I've just been along for the ride. Other than that she is just a house dog, laying with me in the recliner every chance she gets.

The local newspaper, the Watertown Public Opinion, is going to do an article in their Outdoor Section on Elle. I hope to meet with the editor later this week, while doing some training, to discuss the article and have a photo op. I want to take the opportunity to promote NSTRA in this area and hopefully get some more people involved. Not sure when it will go to print but I'll try to post a link to the article on this thread.
