Dog Food

What the heck I'll jump into this probable disaster in the making:)

I feed Taste Of The Wild Pacific Stream. Dogs have small firm stools and my old guy starts to groan in ecstasy when I tear open a new bag! Nothing real scientific but they look great, perform great, and are extremmly regular. I have also had good luck with Diamond Adult Premium.

For pups I feed Pro Plan Performance large breed puppy. I would probably give PPP a try for my adults if I could get it at my discount.

Eukaneuba Premiun Performance, untill I can no longer find it locally. I'm told that food has been discontinued??

Trying Nutro High Energy presently.

Purina One. The vets always compliment the muscularity and excellent health of my dogs. Sold in stores everywhere so you'll never be out of it.
 
Depends upon dog particulars, time of year and activity.

Basically whatever food delivers what the dog needs with little remaining to pitch...lower protein and calories pre-season, naturally.
Brand doesn't fret me much.

Nutro hi energy is the only one ALL of my dogs perform well on.
 
I'm on puppy chow right now and she can't get enough of it. This dogs going to cost me a small fortune in dog food!:eek:

I have been feeding NurtiSource for over 3 years. I feed the Adult formula year round and just adjust the portions depending on the amount of activity the dog is getting.
 
Even on hi energy 30/20 stuff my dogs lose quite a bit of weight during the season. The two hunted 12 days out of 14 last year on a 2 week trip, I fed them as much as they would eat and the female came home weighing 32lbs. I wouldn't dare take her to the vet at that weight, they would probably call the aspca on me.:eek:
 
I have fed Ukanuba Performance to all of my dogs (labs) for over 30 years now. Yes it is expensive put they do great on it. I dont change in the off season I just cut down on it. I love the additive ingredient in the dog food for the teeth. The teeth look great and what I save on the vet dental bills I can justify the extra cost of this food, (labs).
 
I feed a raw food diet...as the dogs can lose a considerable amount of weight in the shooting season I try to feed a total of 600 to 800 grams a day (the meat component includes fat), when the season ends they go back to 400 grams total (lean meat).
 
i imagine by now most of us have this figured out, different for eveyone. often putting my dogs on the ground for 5-9 days consecutively, i prefer to start them off 3-6 lbs. over their ideal weight. they lose that weight and then some, during season, very hard to keep weight on them.
