Awfully quiet on the boards, how goes?

Just checking in. The wet weather has potential to produce good cover. Fingers are crossed that we don't get any really bad weather in phez country. We have our 3 1/2 year old dog down at Hideaway Kennels getting "re-educated" ... he is all "go" and no "whoa" ... has been that day...

Dept of Parks and Wildlife ...

I have never seen nor interacted with a DoW or Dept of Parks and Wildlife officer while hunting in the last 5 years. Today, I was at a hunting preserve and a DoW truck drives onto the property an officer gets out and asks to see my hunting license. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I...

    Blue Cliff Pheasants

Have any of you been down to Blue Cliff Pheasants this year? I am curious about how the cover is looking. We went there last year, and had a good time. The cover was a bit sparse in areas other than the stubble ... and even in the stubble, it was really dusty. Thinking about heading down...

Are pheasants more skittish on windy days?

Are pheasants more skittish on windy days? So far this season, I have been out on two windy days, and both days the birds were flushing well out of range. By windy, I mean corn husks blowing in the wind and tumbleweed rolling across the top of CRP fields. Both windy days resulted in no shots...

    Colorado - Week 3

Mrs. COWeimar and I headed to northeast Colorado on Saturday. Being the smart one, she opted out of going last weekend (cold, windy). We took along two or our three boys. Dakota is our pro, and he put up a nice rooster for me in the morning. Cowboy is our youngster, he did a fine job...

Grouse virgins no more! Cowboy, our 1 1/2 year old Weim, found us a grouse today. This was his first time out on a wild bird hunt, and my first time bagging a grouse. It was a good day.

    Browning Auto-5 (A-5)

Anyone have any experience with a Browning A-5 and pheasant loads? My dad passed away last year and I inherited all of his shotguns, rifles and pistols. His most coveted shotgun was "the Browning" - a Belgian made A-5. It hasn't been fired in over 20 years. I am planning to take it to Chuck at...

    Hunting preserve east of Brighton

Would any of you know about a hunting preserve east of Brighton off of 144th between Penrith and Converse? I have seen signs with "Wildlife Release Area" and over the past couple of weeks I have seen bird dogs and folks wearing blaze orange. Any ideas if it might be one of the properties used...
