Anyone Going for Spring Turkey?

Just printed off my permit and extra tag for spring turkey in Kansas. With the end of pheasant and quail season in late Janauary, spring turkey season is very welcome indeed, a time to return to the field, see what spring portends for the fall, and try to fool a big tom into range.

i think i am actually going to try it this year never been before but i am looking forward to it

I didn't get drawn for spring turkey this year.:( But I will be lending my call skills ( ha ha) to a friend and his son. Best of luck to one and all in your pursuit of the Toms.:)

Get to buy my license tomorrow for WI. GCB, if you get to hear them gobble on roost in morning and have a couple come in you will be hooked for sure.

I have 2 buddies coming with this year so that makes it an official "turkey camp".

Let us know how those work for you Wildcat. I've seen them in the stores but haven't talked with anyone that's used them. My son in law may try them this year also.

Will do sir. I actually plan on taking the video camera to the blind - so hopefully they'll be some footage of them in action as well!

Didn't get to go last year due to moving and work schedule. Looks like I've got a big installation where I work opening weekend, but after that I plan on hitting the river bottoms over in southeast Kansas.

Like was said, the first time you have a half dozen of them gobbling up and down the river at your calls and one flys down and is in full strut in your decoys you'll be hooked.

There's about 15 that hang out across the road from my house. The other morning I was out at day break and they were already gobbling their fool heads off. :)

I'll be hunting six days with an outfitter in Maine. No season here in New Brunswick.

Here in PA, spring gobbler is a big deal. Over the last 10 years there has been a steady increase in population. In spite of this, you would think they would be easier to hunt. (NOT !) I had a friend get me into hunting turkey about 13 years ago. As a result, turkey hunting has turned into an addiction. If only you didn't have to get up at 4:30 AM. Steve

First I need to be successful in Unit 4 draw, then I hope I can put it in a busy schedule that doesn't allow much time for hunting.

Welcome to the Thread and Forum

Lady Canadian, welcome to the thread and the forum. Good luck stalking turkey Down East.

I'll be hunting turkeys in Nebraska and my home state of Colorado.
Always enjoy getting out there in the springtime callin' in those toms!

I usually hunt turkeys over by Devils Tower in WY in late April or May. With all of the snow over there this year, it may be May.

Hey Steve, all this talk about "draws" for turkey. We had better keep it to ourselves all the turkey we have in PA, so many we can get an extra spring Gobbler tag.
Of course I would rather have the pheasant numbers SD has.

I was pulling maple taps out of trees Saturday and heard one gobble. That'll put you in the mood. I get 2 tags in OH and 2 in WV. Third week of April is not to far off. I use the Federal Pheasant Forever load in 5 shot. They do a good job on the gobblers. Good Luck.
