UPH Hunt

Does anyone have any ideas how they would like to see this event go? Are we all just out to have a good time split off into 3-4 groups and hunt or do we want to run a little competition? How many birds? I was thinking 3 per person.

If I can talk the "Boss" into letting me loose that weekend I might be there on the 25th. I have trials the weekends before and after the 25th.

Still in Arizona but will be headed home on April 9th.

Sounds good George. Just let me know what you figure out.

TBear, Maybe we should get big name tags where everyone can write their Forum name on it and then have room to write their REAL name down so we can better understand who can take the jokes and who might be a little touchy! No but seriously it would be fun to get to know everybody through their alias and their real name. Just a thought. If you want I can bring the name tags!

Name tags would be good! That would be great if you brought some. Are we all thinking 3 birds each? And split of into smaller group? I can bring sloppy Joes if that works for everyone for lunch.

my son and i are in for sure. he has a 9 month old lab that he would like to bring, has been around guns and birds, but hasn't really hunted yet. he would keep him on a check cord for sure. if that will be an issue, please let me know, no hard feelings! let me know what i could bring to share.

No big deal on the new dog at all. We will figure it out. I will add you and your son.

Potato digger, These can be great times for pups to learn. I would love to work with your pup a little that day to show you some things you can do to work with them a little to get their bird drive going.

tBear.

I looked back at several postingss and didn't find a start time for the hunt. Assuming three birds each and three to a field, we could be finished - in an hour?

Also, some of the fellows appear to have a fair distance to drive. Can we get a 9 or 10 start time? Your thoughts...

Look at the 1st post all info is there. I here ya on the drive its 2hrs for me. We have the fields from 8-12. I'm just thinking about the possible temperature. If its going to be 70 I will be running my dogs at 8am. What does everyone else that is going think? We could always have a few different start times. Does anyone want to start at 9 or 10? We could just take turns. Run in groups of 3 all just take turns. Ill talk to Keith at sand pines and figure something out.

TBear: found the times - thanks. Average temps for April 25 are 40 and 62, according to my research. I understand how this could get complicated - just a thought about starting time.

If we want to get creative we could bring video camera's and run a couple of sets and video tape the guys that are hunting. Then we could have more ammunition in which to tease each other. I agree Jon that it might be an early start for some of the guys, but I know we never start right at 8 and there is always that time afterwards to chat and talk and get to know different guys. We might want to leave open a 9 am start for guys traveling a bit farther. I would be willing to stay around the club house and get the second round going if we want. Looking forward to a great day!

What time would you like to start the then? 9or? I have a 2+ hour drive as well but I will just get up a little earlier. Sorry zeb I could not resist:eek:. I get it 100%. Does 10 work better we could do a 8am start and a 10pm start. Spread it out.

10:00 would work better for me. I've got at least a 3 hour drive. But I'm not 100% I am coming. Only been back from AZ for a day and need to get organized plus I have a NSTRA trial on the 18-19 in North Dakota and another one May 2-3.

What type of format to you usually run at Sand Pines?

My vote would be a 9:30 - 10:00 start. If there are several fields, planting birds might take a while, hence a staggered start could work.

Looking forward to the gathering...
