PF Magazine Stirs Me Up!

With the arrival of the new edition of PF's magazine a few days ago, on Sunday I found myself looking over my guns, vest, field coat, and hat, and scrutinizing my dog as if I were going hunting in a few days. :eek:

It's a good issue too:). Plus they put some nice wild pheasant photos in there:thumbsup: Always icing on the cake!
 
like said above they are the best ones we have write now to get us by in the calm B4 the storm... many other upland bird or dog magazines out there but nothing just for the pheasant!!! i lost my turkey & turkey hunting magazine a few months ago so im down to waiting for the PF magazine every other month!!!

i was kinda let down thow in this magazine well actually big time!!! i the top 25 they say they didnt want to re-list any towns well they did lewiston MT also they only listed 19 of the top 25??? yes 19 as they reprinted #14 twice!!!??? whats up with that PF??? in 1 of the most anticipated issues of the year the 1 we get B4 we got hunting the 1st time of the year & the 1 we read the most as we are itching to get out & hunt they could not list all 25 towns!!!??? lame or make sure to proof read it B4 its mailed??? also the name drop n of 2-3 areas i like to hunt was a real bummer...

also they had a mixed bag theme all through out the issue i loved it but then in the pheasant country explorer the mixed bag is a trout fishing pheasant hunting cast & blast??? & in all places IOWA!!! i mean come on IOWA??? for the pheasant country explorer article in 1 of the major issues released every year!!!??? they could of should of done any number of top pheasant hunting destinations wear a mixed bag hunt is possible KS,NE,ND,SD,MT,MN to name a few pheasant & you name it in them states but IOWA??? & in that region of IOWA the land owners dont want us killing there last few pheasants thats big time whitetail deer & turkey country not pheasant any longer... i didnt even finish reading that IOWA story once they went fishing... didnt read any of the fly tie n stuff either its hunting season now been fishing season all spring & summer man...

the loadin up section was kinda a waste of the 1st 8 pages & the fitting shotguns article... really liked the stuff about the pointers & flusher & pointing dog range article thow... never thought id say it i missed ron spomer writing in this issue he dose good articles on hardcore public land hunting & tactics witch is what we needed in this issue... he always dose the article wear he gets me all pumped up mentioning all the early season hunts we can enjoy out west or all the great late season hunts we can enjoy in the southern edge of the pheasant range wear they open in NOV they get me going!!!

the all i need is 1 bird was great!!!

& of all years wear they should of had a SD public land hunting atlas on the cover like last years GREAT PHEASANT HUNTING PREVIEW ISSUE they didnt i thought the 25 year mark for the SD WIA program would of gotten more attention in the issue or at least on the cover???

for the 2013 early forecast for pheasant witch i love to read each summer to get a idea of wear is worth hunting this up coming fall we got 1 or 2 states harvest report statistics out of 8 states... bummer...

also i seemed like a really short read for me??? maybe i was expecting more but i read the mag in like 20-30 min & i re read many articles???

last years pheasant hunting preview issue was outstanding this 1 just so so at best for me... maybe next issue they will step it up again back to wear they were last yr & the years prior...

but like stated above they are the best we got write now so what can we do... man i wish i worked with PF magazine just seen a rooster tails show wear the office ditched work to go pheasant hunt maybe thats what happened to this issue all involved were playing hooky & hunting while they should of been working??? lol
 
My bro-in-law is going to show me how to give my Benelli SBE a proper cleaning which I don't think it has ever had since I've owned it. (14 years???). started jamming last year.

I have given it a "cleaning" just not a "proper cleaning". So I will find out what that is on Wed.
 
I think PF magazine lists the top 25 (different) towns each year as more of a free promotional tip of the hat to them than as a data-based list. And good for PF for doing so.
 
not really they did last years top 25 it was the 1st i had seen in 4-5 yrs of get n the PF magazine? they published this yrs top 19 should be top 25 to add to last years top 25 to give us 50 top must hunt destination for our bucket list they said as much in the start of the top 25 article...

i agree with the boys on the MT thread its needless to bring the masses of non resident traveling pheasant hunters all to 1-5 towns each yr... yes the small towns make bank off the hunters & the guides love to be in a town named in the top 25 but it just brings crowds of hunters expecting a world class hunt & when they all are on the same public lands that just does not happen...

also like said in the MT thread when these small towns are named the local landowners get bombarded by new hunters to the are asking for permission so much there are DONT ASK sign on the locals mail boxes...

not cool to routinely out certain towns to the lazy hunter masses its just un called for... ive seen great turkey & deer hunting areas get published in magazines & bragged about on TV & get just trashed by hunters yr in & yr out afterwords to the point now wear guys are looking else wear to hunt now just to many guys all over the secret is out!!! 1 or 2 new groups is expected not groups of 2-3 car loads full every day on the areas wear u used to see 1-2 cars on a trip u ask wear u from or how did u find this area oh a friend of a friend or in NWTF magazine ETC. even worse i herd about it on-line lol

these magazine are just trying to give a guy a destination to dream about i understand but think if your honey hole was outed in 1 of these articles im sure you would not be to happy???

i hope they dont do a new top 25 every year in 2 years they would have blabbered out about 100 good hunting towns many thats to many lol
 
Yep! If you're an upland hunter and don't get excited by the new PF issue you need to get your pulse checked!
 
Wth PF? mine still isn't here! If it takes longer to get out here they should ship them a day or 2 earlier so I don't have to wonder what you guys are talking about.:D

i think their delivery system is set up to match the speed of some of the quail or maybe they are republicans and just hate to ship to calif.
