I'm am going to watch mo BB sat, so all is not lost

We are going to need GPS coordinates please, just so all the other people who do their scouting on here can head your way.
And I hope that MO loses every basketball game it plays.
:D

Hope Sadie and Rocky are doing alright! :)

All loaded and ready for tomorrow morning. Leaving very early in the morning.

Brought the vest out and the pup went nuts!! It will be enjoyable just watching her do her thing. Any birds we bring home will simply be a bonus.

Good luck to everyone!! Have fun and be safe. Share some pictures.

We are going with some friend a couple hours west in the morning.
Just taking Ace, its a pretty big group, and I am not sure Indy is really ready for hot weather pheasants. They are going to be running like little motorcycles.

Well I got out for about an hour this morning , and to my surprise got into quite a few birds. Walked one field flushed 3 seperate coveys of quail all with atleast 20 birds. 2 shots, 2 kills. Probably could have got a limit if I had wanted to, but it was just too much fun to see them!

A pic of Champ my GSP with the days spoils, hot already at 9:30; horrible pic I took it on my phone and you can only see the head of one bird lol

good for you, that dog looks hot!

I hope to see a few quail tomorrow. Weather will dictate though. 70 percent chance of rain doesn't sound good. May have to wait until next weekend.

By the way I like that dog box!

I hope we have more quail, it seems like we do. i like staying home. As far as basketball comment goes, I just don't understand the K-State fans. Honestly we didn't even give it a thought, as to what you K-State wanted us to do! K.U. fans either! actually less and still don't. As far as your bitter pill against MU, and everybody else you disagree with, it must make you feel better, I guess. You have a good basketball coach, not like the angry man you sent with us to the SEC. Don't like non-residents, need "special" seasons for you, scream at new posters who want advice, property rights, weather too. Maybe you all need some kind of self-esteem therapy and get rid of the bitterness. Rest of us go along and laugh.

I had a guy and his two young sons from Oklahoma stop by and ask to hunt quail this morning. I showed them a couple spots to hunt. They just stopped back in with 13. They found 4 coveys around one quarter section which is much better than it has been. They said the birds were wild and the dogs were having trouble smelling because its so hot and dry.

I didn't go because I don't like to get my dogs out when its this hot. When it cools down tomorrow I may go out in between rain showers. I will head west if we get enough rain I can't get in the fields to work.

I actually know sadie, have been to his house and find him to be a class guy. I was just giving him a hard time. Not that I even need to explain that to you or anyone on this board. I went and Webber and the Cats last night and wasnt impressed. So we'll have to see.
Don't know all the non-residents so I cant pass judgement on all of them but I am meeting three of them for dinner tonight, of which I've never met. Special seasons? Don't really remember much about that but that would be nice. :) I do have no problem with people needing advice but I damn sure ain't giving away hunting spots or telling them where to go. That's their problem. I have no idea where all this butthurt is coming from. I used to think you were a class guy with whom I would hunting with, but I obviously was mistaken.

She plays for the Sporting Blue Valley club in the U15 division. They play at
9:30 Saturday morning in the semifinals of the state cup. If they win, they play for the championship at 9:30 Sunday morning. I made my first opening weekend trip when I was twelve. I'm 45 now and haven't missed more than 3 or 4 during that time. I'll make plenty more but my boys are both in college and she's my youngest, so I have to enjoy these times while I can. I'll get out with my dad and boys a little later. Dad and my 13 year old lab have both slowed down quite a bit, so they probably wouldn't like the warm weather Saturday anyway.

I have about the same siituation here in KY Nick. Have one son playing college soccer. The other is U17 and we will miss the 2nd day of Deer gun season in KY due to a frienly match he is playing to get ready for college showcases coming up. We have had to move our kansas trip from pur annual pilgrimage in Decemver to thanksgiving week because he will be playing at Disney during our normal time out there.
Howd the game turn out? In the Championship?

You guys should hammer UK. They are all freshmen and sophomores. We had everybody leave last year. This year is a rebuilding year! :) You will at the very least have a better shot at them then Kansas did last year. :) Sorry guys, had to throw that one out there.

Well we hunted all day. It was one of the toughest day for pheasant hunting on opening day as I remember.

It was so hot and windy we had a hard time to get close to any roosters.
We saw them running out ahead and flushing well out of range much of the time.

Ace pointed several pheasants but they were all hens. He did point a nice covey, and some of the singles.

Ended the day with one pheasant and a couple of quail for the group.
Didn't take my pup Indy, with the heat and his lack of experiance hunting row crop.

So its Indy's day tomorrow hunting quail.

I agree, it was a tough day. The pup and I concentrated on WIHA CRP. We started out doing pretty good until the wind kicked into high gear. One hen and one juvenile rooster during the first hour. The rooster took a while to identify. Once the wind kicked up things pretty much shut down.

Spotted a big mule deer doe bedded down and she let us get within 75 yards of her before she, and one I had not spotted, took off.

The dust really bothered the pup's eyes. She would rub them against my legs whenever we would stop. I started rinsing them out at each water break.

Being a KU guy, I hope Snyder wins a national championship this year. The job he has done this year is beyond amazing. Someone from Kansas may as well win it because it will never be KU. As far as basketball is concerned, I enjoyed watching Frank Martin and his team He was uber competitive and his teams were fun to watch until there at the end. Webber is going to get his arse handed to him. He is going to try to muddy up the games which is fine until the better teams come to town.

PS. I would like a special season too. Just saying if I get a vote

Mine plays for Prodigy "Nationals" here in T town. We play in KC though. U13and 14 next year. I'd much rather watch my daughter play soccer than hunt at this point. Hunting will be there in 5 more years.

Ping me sometime when you are going to be in KC for a tournament or something. Maybe we could meet up and exchange lies over a cold one.

That's great. Sounds like you've got some good players. My daughter's team lost in the Championship game this morning. They were down 0-1 and she scored with about 5 minutes left to tie it up. Then they gave up another goal w/ only about 1.5 minutes left. It was about 35 degrees and windy. Now I'm on the couch watching football and reading the posts from the guys who were able to make it out.
