New Browning A5 in 16 ga.

I hefted one at Pheasant Fest this past week end. Seems like a nice gun. Definitely light. The rep said 5.5 pounds. I don't think most people will be disappointed. If I wasn't already wedded to my 1959 Sweet 16, I might be tempted.

Sweet 16

5.5 lbs. geez that's a light one. I was thinking more like a little closer to 6lbs. Don't know if it will be March or the middle of summer before mine comes in. I guess nobody really knows.

I was at the Cabelas in Glendale, AZ yesterday. So I went to the gun counter to see if just by some remote chance they had gotten an early A5 SweetSixteen. No chance. The guy I spoke to didn't even know that Browning was making the new A5 in 16 ga. How in the heck can you work in guns sales at Cabelas and be that uninformed??

Same here

Same thing here. We gotta brand new Cabela's here near Madison and the gun counter boys could just as easily be in the perfume aisle at Walgreen's. Nice guys, but just clueless. They know where the bullet comes out, but not much more.

That is about normal. I really like it though when they start trying to sound like they actually know something about guns. Always good for a laugh or two.

Don't hold your breath for the A5

Just got off the phone with the Browning Rep. New A5 Sweet 16 with 28" barrel first shipment end of October. The 26" barrel end of Dec. Geez I wanted that gun for the 2016 season. I thought early summer, July at the latest. Sold everything else already. Not sure what to do.

Two Shotguns

Thanks for reinforcing the same thought that I have had for some time now. I did just that. I have a Fabarm L4S coming this week from HiGrade Shooters with 26" barrel. Pretty sure it is a nice gun. Ill just have to wait until the A5 comes in. Showed your message to my wife. You might want to watch your back. Haha

What happened to 2nd quarter 2016?

I put my deposit down a week ago. Was really hoping to use it this fall.

Grrrrrrrr

I sent Browning an email this morning asking when the new A5 Sweet Sixteen will be at the dealers. Here was the response I got this afternoon.

Thank you for the email. The new A5 will be arriving mid to late summer.

Sweet 16

The rep I spoke with was in Ogden, Utah. I wanted to shoot all summer with my grandson so I picked up the Fabarm 12 gauge. I get it tomorrow. I'll take the A5 whenever it gets here.

The customer service I emailed is also in Ogden, UT. I find it confusing that we would get two different answers from Browning headquarters. I'm hoping my person is correct and the rep you spoke to is wrong.

Final answer lol

Just got off the phone again. I told him about the confusion. He said this is the final answer. Browning A5 Sweet 16 both barrel lengths. 1st shipment is end of September. 2nd shipment end of November. Also, there is a very large back order. So we have three dates now. Lol

1st: I sure hope I get a first shipment gun! I wonder if that means the dealer has to be on the ball when ordering it?

2nd: It's pretty frustrating when a company gives a bunch of different dates. They hype it up at SHOT show, tell everyone 2nd quarter 2016, then starting telling everyone different info. Grrr.

12 gauge

Just picked up the Fabram L4S. SDJIM was right. Two guns is a good idea. Anyway, looks to be a well made gun with excellent finishes. At least I'll have a gun for fall if the A5s are hard to come by.

Got back to SD from wintering in AZ. Stopped at my local gun shop and asked them about the arrival of the new Sweets. I'm number 3 on their list. I was told that originally they were told they would be available this summer now they are being told the end of October. However, they really don't expect them until after the first of the year. Depressing!!

A5

The one guy in Ogden, Utah might have been speaking the truth then. Matt at Joel Etchen Guns has one coming for me but I don't know what number I am. I just put down a deposit. Meanwhile I'm breaking in a new Fabarm L4S. I'm going out in October, November, and Dec. this year so I'm hoping I'll have the A5 at least during my last hunt.
