As I've lost over 70 pound due to diet and tons of water, I begin suffering from cramps. A little old lady told me to take a tablespoon of yellow mustard each week. Believe it or not, you can choke it down and best thing...cramps went away.
I don't have camping issues but have always heard pickle juice also works... Again I'm sure it goes back to the sodium base to regenerate electrolytes.
whatever you try, begin ingesting it 48 hours before you take your first step in the field, it's like any med, you have to have a supply already coursing through your blood stream before the body calls for it...
That is tumeric. I was having huge problems with cramps and was taking potassium as I did not want all that banana sugar. Then I got on the mustard, pickle juice tumeric + potassium and I am virtually cured! Was told last week to take a spoon full of mustard. Worth a try. I might have to put a hotdog under it.
Yellow mustard is the charm, has been my antidote for 10 years or more...the turmeric is the magic ingredient....i get killer cramps.. The mustard cures them in about 30 seconds...i sleep with it near my bed.
Another way to check salt. Your body will tell you if you need it.
Taste a little salt.
If it tastes good. You need it.
If it doesn't. You don't.
My dad struggled with leg cramps and he swore by tonic water. Quinine is the ingredient in tonic water that helps prevent cramps. I also hunt with a gentleman who swears by pickle juice to. If you read the nutrition info in pickles they are loaded with potasium.
I limped back to truck and did a palm shot of mustard and chugged half a bottle of Tonic water. Cramp subsided and I finished my walk and limit before sundown.
Potassium pills and orange juice. Also as stated above drink a lot of water
