You need vitamin D to absorb calcium. A quart of milk will give you your RDA of calcium and vitamin D. I work outside, when I'm dead beat I'll down a quart of dutch chocolate milk as a pick me up. Better than gatorade
 
Hylands

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Hylands Leg Cramp pills....they contain homoeopathic? quinine and work well. I used to wait til a leg cramp was coming on, but easier to take a pill before hunting and after, and no more cramps. Found them online or Walmart....about 11 cents each....
 
Issue with a lot of these remedies is high is sodium, which makes some since. Sodium helps in retaining water. Your muscles are more than likely cramping due to lack of water.

Another remedy is creatine. Creatine is commonly used by weight lifters. Your body naturally produced creatine and you can get it from fish and red meats however as we age our bodies produce less of it. Creatine soaks up water from other parts of your body into the muscles. In some cases this helping with muscle recovery and those muscle aches and pains. However the issue with creatine is making sure you are getting enough water considering it does pull water from your body into the muscle you can dehydrate if not hydrating properly in the first place.
