How many birds do you shoot in a season?

Like Don Johnson on Miami Vice, hiding out in a wheat field, waiting for the bad guys to cross in from Canada, rustling our cattle! This could be good…😎
It's pretty simple, you scout fields in the late afternoon, then you show up in the morning at zero dark 30 and put your decoys out, and get ready. It's a fun way to hunt but, it's cold and it takes a lot of work.

So here is how hunting goes for me and how the #s stack up.
Hunted 4 days last week with 2 to 4 guys , took a total of 14 birds home . Those are my birds and my sons . Sunday I cooked off 10 birds for a early Thanksgiving get together for family and friends. Potluck dinner I brought Asian Zing stir fry. 13 adults and 9 kids wiped it out.

I hunted Sunday morning a quick hour. 5 of us got 3 roosters. My friends kid took those 3 birds. I did not shoot. Hunted Sunday evening with another different group of 4 guys. Landowner likes to pheasant hunt behind good dogs so we oblige. Got 11 birds. I shot 2 and took 3 home.

Monday Hunted 2 hours 4 guys got 8 birds. The other 3 guys all got 1 each. I shot 1 bird by myself the other 4 I shot after 1 or 2 of the guys missed. This is a different landowner he shot 20 times. Cockwobbler shot 15 and my son shot 12 times. Remember they got 1 bird each. We kept all 8 birds and Cockwobbler took 4 back to Arkansas and I gave 4 to a friend who hasn't been able to get out. I then cooked off 6 birds from home for pheasant and wild rice.

Hunted tonight for 90 minutes got 5 birds. I shot 3 buddy got 2. Just us 2 dog owners and 3 dogs. Different landowner who hinted she would like birds. I have asked her many times in the past 2 years and always no. This year she is wanting birds. Gave her 4 cleaned birds took 2 home. I now have 10 birds in possession.

I also have 3 different friends that have older out of state hunters here. I will probably get a call to bring the dogs and hunt with them. They all have great private ground.

For several years I hunted SD, IA, NE and KS. I spoke with a NE game warden who told me if I had licenses in those states and I hunted enough days to have a possession limit and could prove that, I would be legal if I tagged the bird with the date and state where I shot it.
To me that meant if I hunted SD for five days (15), Iowa for four days (12), Nebraska for three days (9), and Kansas for four days (16) I could legally have 52 roosters in my freezer if I tagged them properly. I didn't have that much time available to hunt back then so it was a non issue.

I kinda suspect Goose is a Hutterite that flew the coop…or, a spitting image of the Mormon guy from Sister Wives….
Not a huterite lol.I have hunted on the colony near Lewistown. The point here is, do not shoot young birds. Do not shoot birds that don't have all of their color and tail feathers. Just don't do it, it's bad karma.

I’m at 30 pheasants, 4 sharptails, and a hun, after trips to both North Dakota and Iowa.

All of the bobwhites whistling around me at the home place yesterday evening while deer hunting told me that number is soon to increase.
