Best UPLAND hunting pants

Here in 2015 guys pay $150 plus for a pair of jeans,it seems reasonable to spend $200 on a pair of pants that do more than just have weird designs on the arse.

When it's cold and the cover is heavy I'm glad I have my filson doubles.

Very true! Hell, even a pair of 501's will set you back $60-70 bucks now.

Just got the pants in the mail tonight after I got off work. The are comfortable and fit great! I have never spent this much on a pair of hunting pants but it is like what I tell my clients, you get what you pay for. I will give more feedback after they are tested in the field.

Awesome news! I'm all about spending the money if it's worth it and they can take a beating. I look forward to further feedback.

I quit trying different brush pants after I bought Duluth Trading Company Fire Hose Cloth brush pants. these have been comfortable & they wear like iron. They made my Wrangler brush pants seem like hospital scrubs.

hankyorke, any feedback on those Mountain Khakis Original Field Pants?

My next pair might be those or the Orvis Missouri Breaks Briar Pants. If anybody has either of those, would be interested in your thoughts.

I've been using the Columbia Full Flight Chukar Pants. Like them, but it looks like they're no longer in production.

Geeze...doesn't anyone wear plain old BDU's anymore??:D Bought 2 pairs from Propper 8 years ago, and winter weight and summer weight, choice of camo at the time. I know, I know...they're polyester-cotton, and not water proof. But I've abused them (especially the winter weight) and they have held up well

Not enough to make a recommendation ya/nay... They are pretty lightweight but don't deter thorns like my Filson or Wick. I'll probably keep them as preserve or fence line pants.

I have always worn flannel or fleece lined jeans, warm and feel like wearing pajamas. When conditions warrant, I wear Filson double tin chaps overlying. That will cut any wind and keep me warm, down to -25:nutz:

Can't go wrong with layers. Last year my wife bought me a pair of Bill's Khakis upland pants. Custom tailored fit from Chancellor's in Columbus GA. Has worked great so far, These are my Mid temp pants when I don't want to wear chaps. Beretta makes some decent products also.

I went from a pair of Scheels hunting pants (which I loved, but for some reason I don't wear the same pant size as I did back in 2004), and went to filson tin's.

The do break in nice, but so far I don't love them. I've had several thorns penetrate, and water resistance is poor (and I have waxed them). We'll see how they do in snow...I'm a little worried.

I'll still wear them cuz I paid for them, but when the time comes I'll go back to an upland pant.

I have a pair of GM upland pants ready to go ... they are well made with good pockets and solid facing... just can't put them on.

This fall I have spent chasing ruffs and pheasants in an old pair of jeans with a quarter size whole above one knee.

My vest is old (stains are gone - washed). Shirt is old and faded. No jacket until temps fall below freezing ...

My wife says these clothes would not even make the donation bag to GoodWill.

HAHA! My chaps are so old they look like they were repaired by Doc Frankenstein's apprentice, and my favourite shirts and bandannas are tattered and torn- can't let 'em go!:D

Update

*UPDATE* Went on a short two hour hunt this afternoon and tried out my new pants. They were very comfortable in the field and kept me dry (there was some snow and it was pretty wet). Walked through some thick weeds and tall grass, nothing stuck to them. So far so good.

LL bean makes a great Gore Tex pant that will keep you dry when it is wet, but I prefer the non-synthetic. Rasher pants are very comfortable and durable. Filson pants are comfortable, only last 1-2 seasons.

Another thing that helps, at least after I entered my 60's, is wearing suspenders. I still wear a belt, but the weight/pull of the pants/double tins/whatever you're wearing is supported in part by your shoulders. In my case, my aging & abused hips & knees don't get to aching.

I wear upland pants by gamehide. They are an off brand but Im in my 4th season with them. They keep you warm but I do recommend getting the full leg length WITHOUT the zipper at the bottoms. I sent the first and second pair back because the zipper kept breaking and coming apart. After a letter they finally sent me a pair free of charge that did not have the zippers at the bottoms and I love em! And the customer service was prompt when I had problems. What I like about them is the briar proof material goes all the way up to the waist not just on the legs.
