Beer At Lunch OK?

I am surprised how many people are whimps. Grow some hair on your chest man. A few beers is not going to hurt anyone. What is next. If you eat a burger with cheese on it, I will not hunt with you. I can see that hunting group breaking up real soon. It only takes one idiot to screw it up for the rest of the party.

It has nothing to do about being a wimp or growing chest hair. It's about having some common sense(which obviously some people lack) and acting in a mature, responsible manner. I wouldn't tell anybody they couldn't drink alcohol while hunting, I just wouldn't hunt with them. It might take a big man to call people wimps, but I think it takes a bigger man to have some integrity and stand up for what they believe in.

I carry a portable breathalyzer with me and make each person I hunt with take a blow first thing in the morning (you never know about those hangover drunks) and then after each field because some guys have been known to take a nip or two when walking.

If you have to constantly police your partners you need lose them all.Hell I don't even have an extra pocket for a breathylizer, too many whistles, transmitters, munchies, etc.

Candidly,I have to say that I would be offended at simply being asked to blow a test, let alone "made" or "told" to.:(

it would depend on the people i'm with. would i hunt with someone sloppy drunk no but 1 or 2 yes. could i go with out if it troubled people sure. i don't see it as a hunt breaker at least for me.

;) I could care less if someone cracked a beer at lunch. Just don't be an idiot. Pretty simple.

OK. Anyone check with a former Vice President who almost killed his lawyer? Course that may have been only one or two with lunch, and its also possible no alcohol was involved. Might want to ask the guy who ended up with the purple face what he thinks.

We outlawed any drinks including beer while taking a lunch break(or any other time for that matter),while in the field and hunting thereafter. And we're not obstainers from alcohol either. This caused a fairly large debate and mutterings in our hunting group and broke an old tradition of having a cold one or two with a sandwich. We voted and the majority won out with the rule that the beer stays in the truck until bird cleaning time and the hunt is over for the day (when it tastes the best anyway). This is for the safety of ourselves and other hunters. Other opinions?
Cheney was an idiot.

Wanna have a beer at lunch, have at it; you will be hunting alone in the afternoon.
After the day is done and cleaning birds, well better have some alcohol to clean the hands:cheers:

Outdoors, exercise and dogs are enough of a high for me. I won't hunt with anybody who is drinking or was too drunk the night before. I don't need my dog getting shot, the truck getting shot or me getting shot. Beer and guns just don't mix.

The investigation into the shooting is on line. Cheney, the first to be interviewed, admitted to the investigator that he had "a beer" at lunch. Investigator then went to the hospital in interview the victim. No sooner than he had entered the room and before asking a question, the victim began insisting no alcohol was involved. ;)

I have to wonder, I bet some of you who scold those who have a beer at lunch while hunting so easily...if you poor it down out at the golf course and at the 19th hole. Then drive your 5000lb car home on our Hwy's.

No I don't drink while hunting or drink a beer at lunch.

Guys I think this thread has run it's course. Lots of opinions and not everyone in agreement. But it seems it is starting to go south. Not much more to be said. Let's just leave it alone.
