    Be Careful Of Your Bluing

Was shooting sporting clays with some friends today and several of us were shooting Citori's in various models. I have a Crossover Target and one other was very similar. I did notice the other one was missing a patch of blue on the bottom of the receiver. It belongs to a friend and I asked what...

    Almost Bought A New Shotgun

I was in my favorite LGS yesterday and in checking the used rack, I spotted a familiar shape. It was a Winchester M-37 in 16 gauge. When I was very young the only shotgun we had was a M-37 in .410. I hit pheasants with it, but seldom knocked them down or found them. I wanted a 20 gauge so bad...

    Does Anyone Have Green Boots?

I found an almost full can of Cabela's brand green boot polish. I had green boots for years, but now have brown. I would be happy to send it to someone if they would send me a buck or two for postage.

    What Shade of Sun Glasses

I always wear some sort of glasses when hunting to protect my eyes from cornstalks, spent shot and whatever else. Do you prefer any particular shade? I usually wear green, but will wear clear or amber on rainy or overcast days. Do you prefer polarized or plain?

Place to stay in Sioux City

I am looking for a nice, clean, inexpensive motel in Sioux City. I will just spend the night there on the way and maybe way back from hunting. Any suggestions?

    Leaving Tomorrow

Headed out to Winner for my 18th annual trip. It sure has been great over the years. I have watched the farmer's grandkids grow and mature. I have given 3 of them shotguns over the years. When I am gone, they will get most of my shotguns.

    Wash Your Vest

I am getting ready as I leave for SD next week. I went to pack my vest and thought it looked a bit dirty. I put it in the machine and it came out 10 shades oranger. I also found some feathers in the machine, so don't tell my wife.

    Pheasants Forever Banquet Tonight

Our 28th or so annual meeting is tonight. I went to the first one and many more. I won a really nice print one year and bought a big neon rooster sign last year. My wife was in Europe and said that she would have opposed my bidding on the sign had she been there. One year I drank a few too...

    Advice For Young Hunters

I have been hunting pheasants for almost 60 years. I think I have learned a thing or two and would like to share. In my opinion, boots and clothes are the most important items. I wear Gore-Tex pants from LL Bean and waterproof boots from Cabelas. I can't begin to tell you how many times hunts...

    Getting Ready For Winner

Four weeks from today I will be in Winner for the 15th time. I have always hunted with Mansheimpheasants.com and have never had a bad time. I stay at the Warrior Inn, eat at Sawyers for breakfast and have a good steak at the American Legion in Colome. Kooch cleans my birds and drinks my good...

    Suspenders

I believe a pair of suspenders is an often neglected item of equipment. For years I have worn a wide pair with my hunting pants. They take some of the stress off your waist and your regular belt. You may have a knife, handgun, phone and other items on your belt. You may have shells and other...

    A Great Weekend In Winner

Last week was my 14th annual trip to Winner. I took one new guy this year and we all had a great time. We limited out every day and saw lots and lots of birds. Many were in the corn and hard to get at, but we did. We had snow Thursday night and it was cold and muddy on Friday. Sat & Sun were...
