That is why I am such a rolly polly guy. Happen to be eating a piece of rhubarb-strawberry pie at the moment.

Awe no you done did it again. Rhubarb pie is my all-time favorite desert. Man I bet that it has been 10 years since I had some. Did not know that Rhubarb grew in KS.
Thanks for being willing to share a slice of heaven. But, I did notice it took over ten minutes for your response, so that leaves me to believe that more than one piece of pie is already Gone!
Is there a way to manage these critters?
Mother told me not to speak with a full mouth.
Lets see, Cinnamon-Rhubarb Muffins, Rhubarb Salsa, Rhubarb Relish, Minted Rhubarb Soup, Rhubarb Meringue Pie, Rhubarb Shortbread, Rhubarb Upside-down Cake, Cornish Hens with Rhubarb Sauce, and Rhubarb Pork Chop Casserole. And, let us not forget the ever-popular Rhubarb Pickles (pickles???) and Rhubarb Wine. Now, doesn't that make you want to run out and plant an extra row of rhubarb just so you'll have enough?
I don't have all those recipes, but sound yummy.
Can quail be substituted for Cornish Hens in that recipe, oh, I forgot, the bird numbers are low this year, but maybe next year.
I do need to add some rhubarb to my plantings next year, besides what will a few rhubarb plants add to my 5,000 tree/shrub order for next spring?
Will there be a positive response to my quail numbers if I plant rhubarb?
I have never been to Durango, but I want to go one day. I hunt elk near Grand Junction, or should I say, I used to hunt elk near Grand Junction. I hope after the first of the year I can start on my "rusty bucket" list, as I call it, that is all those medical procedures I need to complete to get the rusty old body back in shape to do some "bucket list" items. One item on the bucket list is to get both my sons in elk camp with me.
I will be glad to send you an employment application. Be sure to mark the box, "Rain Dance Certified". My hired hand has a love for the outdoors and wildlife, which is a good thing, except sometimes we spend a little too much time glassing deer or in the past, watching pheasants feed.
Hey if you make it to Pheasant Fest, I will buy some good KC BBQ.

DEAL!!! Also, you can use me being Indian to fulfill any affirmative action needs.
Your resume is sounding better all the time.
BTW, felt I needed to make some mention of quail, or lack thereof, since that is the theme of the thread. At my place the quail have a chance of rebounding, but as soon as I can I do need to reduce the predator numbers, as right now I have lots of coyotes and a few bobcats.
Some of my other critters are doing pretty well.

There quite a few around. First one I remember was in 1958. A coon hunter had a hound tangle with one. We had a dog get into one at the ranch in 1980. My Drahthaar got into one in Meade County in 1999.
As far as what they eat, the only thing I know they eat is bark off tree branches. The stripped bark on the upper limbs of a tree are the telltale sign that there are porcupines here.
