I know many of us have seen pheasants in some odd places. I myself was sitting at a high school football game about 7 years ago and right before sundown a hen pheasant came flying over the bleachers. It was the craziest thing! This was in the middle of town and the closest thing to a pheasant field was probably two miles away. Still to this day I think about it and chuckle.

Not a pheasant but I saw a herd of mule deer run right through the middle of Ness City this past winter. They crossed 96 highway just west of the 4 way stop.

Coming through the windshield of my BMW motorcycle at 70+ mph; sorry no pics to prove it, but still have the shield, or what's left of it.

Six pheasants perching in a tree in December near Freemont, Michigan while we were driving to a Walmart. My wife and I were visiting her parents who lived in Newago, MI. That was the second time that I had seen pheasants perched in a tree. What surprized me even more was seeing this in Michigan where supposedly all the pheasants were gone. On that same road on the trip back from Walmart we saw a group of about 15 wild turkeys near where we had seen the pheasants.

3 years ago in the back parking lot of the price chopper supermarket in leavenworth kansas.
It was a hen.
Saw her there several more times that year while making deliveries.

Several years ago I had a rooster run across SD hi-way 244 about 3 miles west of MT. RUSHMORE, total pine forest, above 5000 ft, not a feeding field in site, really did the old double take on that one.

I was Fall turkey hunting in the Custer National Forest. Came out with a turkey and a Rooster.:)

Perched Pheasant

In a tree. Of course, it was a pen raised bird with limited flying ability and flushed from plain sight to a branch.

I've seen wild pheasants sitting in a tree two different times. I also seen one sitting on some metal cow pens out in Western Kansas.

I see a small population by the local gravel pit in Apple valley which is a suburb of the twin cities biggest group ive seen is 7 ! Nothing but townhouses around the gravel pit no habitat but the pit for them!

I have a picture of no less than 10 pheasants (mostly roosters) sitting in a tree by the side of the road. There was a covey of quail in the tree next to it. This was the night before opener 2 years ago. The pic quality isn't great, but you can tell they're pheasants and you can see the quail. These were all wild birds. I'll see if I can scrounge up the pic for you guys and post it (I know I haven't put it in photobucket yet).

On top of my Weber grill. He had a chukkar buddy with him who would only sit on the garage roof. I saw the rooster fly in a number of times and the Chukar was often right behind. I I waled into the back yard they were gone.
These chuks were raised in the ORCHARD HEIGHTS area of SIOUX FALLS. The phez were wild and I trained my dogs on a grass field now bordering 26th Street. Had to move to the country as by '91 it was all commercial buildings.

Some areas in Detroit have pheasants.

Quite often have seen and heard them in downtown Detroit while drifting the Detroit River in the spring walleye fishing. It is quite odd when you hear a cackle in that area.
