I've got two shotguns I typically carry, my go-to gun for when there is killing that needs done is a Beretta Al391 Urika. Field version, walnut stock. A joy to carry, a joy to shoot. Bought it new in 2003 and have never looked back. I don't even glance at the shotgun racks of gunshops now.
When I'm feeling a bit for some nostalgia, for a classic, I grab my 1949 vintage Ithaca 37 Featherlite in 20 guage. It weighs next to nothing and I hit pretty good with it, even if it is a full choke. Carried it opening weekend last year and shot two roosters off of a point of my brother in laws shorthair and my own shorthair, as well as getting some helpful shots in a couple of others. Bought that gun off a guy that was working for me, he was just trying to get his money out of it as he bought it helping a buddy out. I refinished the stock, cleaned the internals up, and it functions flawlessly.
The lone shotgun I want is a nice lightweight, trim, quality side by side. Thinking I want a 16 guage. Double triggers required. In keeping with the 'bit strange and old school theme', thinking it needs fixed chokes as well. I've got rifles in .250 Savage, .257 Roberts, .300 H&H, and looking for a 7x57 Mauser, so I think a SxS 16 guage would fit right in.
If we did a list of wants in rifles, I could type all night on what I want, so we won't.
