Whats everyone shooting?

I second the vote for the Weatherby. A friend bought one for his wife to shoot clays. It is too long for her so our whole group has taken a few turns with it. Easy on the shoulder and wallet.

When pheasant hunting:
1951 Remington 870 Wingmaster 16 ga., fixed skeet2 choke.

When quail hunting:
1969 Remington Wingmaster 20 ga., fixed I/C

When teal or dove hunting:
a brand new Remington 11-87 20 ga.

When duck or goose hunting:
early Mossberg 835 Ulti-Mag.

You have good taste!

Shooting a Beretta A300 Outlander. Solid gun, light weight and for the quality of the gun its light on the wallet too

Browning 625 12 ga.

I figured there'd be more SxS fans.

I may need to renew my subscription to "Pointing Dog Journal" so I can access the forums if I want my fix of SxS talk ...ha

If you ever get a chance to handle an SKB model 385 or 485 ... do so - think you wont regret it if it fits you.

Oddly enough the only good deals I've ever seen on good SxS's are on classifieds from folks up North - ie Maine, Michigan (last gun came from there) Ohio etc.

I've only found junk SxS's at the gun shows here and is pretty much why I've stopped going to any of them.

Side by sides

I much prefer the compactness of a side by side. It's quicker and quieter to load and unload, easier to swing in heavy cover, doesn't jam, and it's nice having two chokes. I grew up shooting an Ithaca Flues 16. I'm currently shooting an Ugartechea Dixon Falcon. I find autos to be cumbersome, almost obnoxious, although I must say the Weatherby Sa8 comes up like a wineglass.

Browning Citori English stock either in 28 gauge or 20 gauge; just depends on how I feel that day. last year I never even uncased the 20 gauge, I was deadly with the 28:thumbsup:
Cheers,
Wolf

KsHusker: I shoot doubles almost over the time, using a 12 gauge 1927 LeFever nitro special,mod/full.
16 gauge 1937 L.C. Smith ( single Hunter Arms Trigger & beaver tail forearm) imp cyl/mod
Stoger Uplander 20 gauge with change out chokes.
I am on the hunt for a Fox in 16 or 12 gauge

A lot of tradition running in this post!

With only getting out a handful of times a year (of course would like it to be more), value it is!

Great feed back everyone, thanks!

For Pheasants
Me:: Browning Auto-5 Sweet Sixteen, mod choke
My better half: Browning Superposed 20ga, IC/Mod chokes

For grouse and woodcock, or if the pheasants are holding tight
Me: Browning BSS 20ga Sporter with Skt1/Skt2 chokes or Browning Auto-5 Light Twenty with Briley chokes
My better half: Either the superposed or Browning BPS 12ga if its nasty cover.

One of these, not sure which. Went to a company sponsored clays shoot last week and had to provide loaner guns for the out of towners. Don't usually have pictures handy otherwise-

Beretta 686 White Onyx (wifes)
Browning BPS 20 (wifes)
Beretta 391-likely what I'll carry, its my go to pheasant slayer
Savage 745???-was my grandpas, stock was cut short, need to put a replacement on it
High Standard?? JC Higgins?? I don't remember(wifes grandpas)
Ithaca 37-20 -have used it several times, joy to carry
Winchester Model 12, was grandpas, finished the season last year carrying it. Has some quirks I need to solve before carrying it again though.

Not pictured, but maybe an Ithaca 37 16 guage that is also a joy to carry.
