I hunted an 870 for a few years, but for the last 10 I have been shooting an M1 Benelli, which has done me very well. For kicks last year I bought a 1935 Browning A5 which I am excited to take with me. I doubt it will be a gun I hunt with all day because I am sure it weighs somewhere around a ton and a half. With my grandpas passing last year, I inherited his 16ga Remington 11-48 which has a 60 year history of killing ditch parrots. So, what are you carrying when you hit the field?

Pictures are a great addition, everyone loves gun porn.

You are right about the weight of a 12 ga. A5. What you need is an A5 SweetSixteen like the one I use. Weighs in right at 7 lbs.

Pretty tough for me to pick just one. It depends on the day and what I feel is the gun for that day. Most the time it's going to be something with history and tradition. Something maybe my dad, grandfather's or uncles would have carried. Model 12, 97, 50..A5, 37..superposed. 3" 20ga 1.25oz, , 1.25oz 16ga, 1.25oz 12ga, #6's or 5's. As long as I'm making memories, stories to tell around the Christmas or Thanksgiving table to up and coming kids. Watching the gleam in their eye's, well I'm taking notes to who will be willed what gun of mine. So they can keep the tradition alive.

You must have very, very light wood in that Sweet to weigh 7# with a vrib and heavy recoil pad...I would have guessed 7 1/4-7 3/8# minimum.
Mine is 7# with a 28" PB.
Interesting.

I like the Winchester 16 ga model 12. But, I'll also bring the Super Black Eagle. It's light for a 12 ga and works great.

Leaving for SD tomorrow!!!!

Lock and Load! :D

Benelli Montefeltro 12 ga 28". I just picked up a 1968 Browning Light 12 last year from an uncle that passed away. Have shot some clays with the browning, but not a pheasant yet.

I have somewhere around 4000 rounds thru my Montefeltro without a hitch and it still looks new. I love that shotgun. I bought it 3 years ago with money that I saved by quiting chewing.

It may be a tad over 7 lbs., never had it on a scale. Browning listed the Sweet with the vent rib at 7 lb. 1 oz. I would guess the recoil pad weighs less than the wood and plastic butt plate it replaced. The stock was cut down when I bought it. I would rather it had the original butt plate but because of it I bought it at a good price. Mine was made in 1960. You have a very sweet looking SweetSixteen yourself.

I know its not old school or anything but I have been shooting a Benelli SBE for roughly 9-10 years now and you would have to pry it from my dead cold hands to get it. Everyonce in a while I like to take my 20 guage Ithica pump out I learned on and is still a blast to shoot trap with.

I'd say we are both lucky and each Sweet 16 likely makes us look like better shots than we are.

I would guess the pad heavier than wood but if the stock was cut then???....if you ever do scale it then please post the weight...always interesting to see weight variences tho they matter little in the big picture.
Some M11 16s approached or equaled the Sweet 16 in weight, for example.
With the 26" PB mine touches 6 3/4#+....great ruffed grouse gun at IC.

ONE???
How about a Win SX-3 20 Ga in Oct, Browning Citori Gran Lightning 16 Ga in Nov, and finish with a Browning Maxus 12 Ga in Dec???

For no-tox units, the Maxus wins hands down.
