What’s the best food?

I'm feeding my 9 year old Brittany PPP Adult +7 Chicken and Rice. Just bought a 34# bag and it was $77.48. But that bag lasts me about 3 months. So about $25/month or less than a buck a day. My dog is sure worth that.
That’s interesting, out of curiosity how much do you feed him or her a day?

FWIW, when cost is an issue there are some brands of dog food that aren't household names but can provide some level of value. Not saying they are the "best" but I know two, small dog breeders in the midwest that have switched their dogs to these brands with good results. Both sell #50 lb bags of dog food under $40 and are available from local feed stores. One switched from Pro Plan and the other from Innukshuk and both are happy with the switch.

Mosey, I am a big supporter now of Extreme Dog Fuel. Whisky loves it and he does well on it.

She (9 year old spayed female) gets abot 1 3/4 - 2 cups once a day. She maintains her weight at 34-35 lbs.

Put my (at the time) 10 month old Chessie on Inukshuk last season as she couldn’t hold on to any weight. Game changer for not only filling her out a bit, but her coat as well.

My female is 11 and 58 lbs. She gets 1.5 cups a day. My male is 65 lbs and gets 2 cups. Great food.
I feed Innukshuk also, I cut it for a little more volume, I’m old and soft. I think I’m going to add a dog in July. I was thinking last night I need to stop that and buy a pallet after the pups settled in. Over twice as much food as I would need for a year West if you were looking few bags.

Which one? 26/16? 30/25? 32/32? Etc? I’m using 26/16, will mix some 30/25 once the season starts…

I fed Inukshuk 30/25 for several months and it was fine at first. My GSP will eat anything and she did well on the Inukshuk...the problem I had was with my male Vizsla. He got to the point, where he simply wouldn't enough to keep weight on.. He was training and running in hunt tests and lost so much weight we had to supplement with Dyne for a few weeks. I was lucky if I could get him to eat a full cup a day. I decided it wasn't worth the hassle and moved him over to Nutrisource Performance. He likes the Nutrisource and eats 3 cups a day. No issues. Vizslas can be a bit fickle.

My lab is a 4-legged garbage disposal. I could feed her just about anything and she would still be hungry. She doesn't even hardly chew her food. She just inhales it right into the bottomless pit like a pelican.
