First, Middle and Last initials...plus, I'm the Third.
 
Soon after graduating from college with a degree in Forestry I moved to Tallahassee for a job with the State Division of Forestry. I worked out of the district headquarters for the first year, which included a maintenance crew. The maintenance chief lived on site with his family. One day the school bus dropped off his little girl and as she walked by she said to me in her cute little southern drawl "Hi Ranger Rick". I asked how she knew who I was. "Your the friend of all the animals in the forest and I get our magazine". I thought that hilarious and bought subscriptions for the kids of friends and relatives. A few years later when we had our own kids I subscribed for them, too.

I'm a die hard South Dakota boy that is also a die hard vikings fan, plus Viking was my call sign when I was flying attack helicopters in far away lands..
 
George Evans book "A Dog, A Gun and Time Enough". As a bird hunter it's the three things I want the most. I like my little side by side and hope to pass it on someday but the reality is it doesn't matter how much time I have with my dogs I will always want just one more hunt, one more day in the field, one more opportunity to get my dogs into birds.
 


well....when I still lived in NJ my hair do I had in my band got me my nickname...everybody in the mid west called me Rascal because they said I looked like singer of Rascal Flatts....nobody at the time on the east coast even knew who Rascal Flatts was...lol but no one in this part of the world even knew my real name they all called me Rascal...still the same to this day...
 
I use my real name on several forums. this being one of them.:)
Most people know me a s"cat", sort for catnthehat, a handle which was hung on me when I was very young because I've always worn a fedora or open rod style Stetson ever since I was a kid.

I have had labs for 30 plus years. Started out being Labman. Running HRC hunt test for most of those years I had a lab that got 500 HRC points so I then became Labman500.
 
I have had chessies since the early 90s. A couple of them have been brown. When they were younger and I was taking them to the park a lot. people would always say. oh what a pretty lab...or is that a chocolate lab? I'd go into a short history of chessies .. an American version bred out of newfoundlands by market gunners etc. etc, etc. At the end of it about 1/2 of them....a little bit confused would say well...."can they hunt pheasants?"
 
I'm not witty so...

LBD= Little Brown Dog. My dog breed of choice both for the breed's hunting drive and intelligence. I appreciate all well trained hunting dogs and am impressed by the people who take the time to socialize their dogs.
