She didn't say. I went to the meeting at Garden City and there were only four Finney County operators there. I also attended one of the two meetings scheduled in Dodge for Ford County and there was probably 20-25 operators in that meeting. I was encouraged with the number in attendance in Ford County.

Our counties FSA director and the gal that wrotes offers had a pool going. i think one was bettin 29 and the other was 12. Was a whole beer at stake. I think I put in for somewhere in the middle. I will check in and see what the tally is.

Here's some Walworth County Roosters at our new camp called Gunner's Haven. Near Selby South Dakota.

Seeing and hearing more activity in my hood. Will cool off pretty good but still seasonable next week. Deer are not bunched up much and they are mowing lawns in SD. (PEOPLE, NOT DEER):eek:

Nice Photo's U Guide:

Quick question regarding both the Walworth and Miner County camps:

How much total acreage for each and how much undisturbed nesting cover on each.

Thanks

The gal at the FSA called Friday to let me know the papers were ready to sign on my offerings. I asked her about contracts expiring in Ford County. She said about 130 expiring and about half been offered back by the operators.

Thats pretty good don't you think? Considering......

Are you still in offering mode or did your offers get accepted?

I was glad to hear that it was in the 50% range. Even if it is 50% I am thinking that the acreage might be less,i.e. bigger blocks of decent farm land taken out and smaller parcels of poor land left in. Will be anxious to see.

I need to sign the papers. On my expiring acres there will be the 15yr CP25 contract and the 10 yr CP42 contact. I have about thirty acres that I will not rebid, but all the rest. Then the land I purchased two years ago will have both CP25 and CP42 contracts. I also have some shelter belts to put in, but will do that at a later date under the continuous sign up. Lots of work ahead.

Must be something in the water over here in NE Missouri. My friend reenrolled a 250 acre piece on Friday in Scotland County. He said the lady at FSA reported all but 12 expiring contracts heve been reenrolled and in addition they received 15 offers for "new" lands.

I did some reserach on the FSA website and found that Scotland County has 10,000 + 2012 expiring acres with 165 contracts!!! If this is true 153 contracts out of 165 were offerd for renewal.

BYRD I would have thought western KS would have done better than 50%.

UGuide - SD is going to get clobbered yet again as it has since 2007 when extension offers were made right thru the past 3 General Sign Ups.

A couple years of moisture and good grain prices will do that. A good old year of drought and shakey commodity prices will turn things in the other direction.

I think global demand for AG products is going to keep things going good for farmers.

The answer is to beef up the continuous programs to be more attractive to operators and actually be relavent to thier bottom line. The new $150 SIP won't hurt.

Just got back from 5 days at the farm and there were LOTS of birds and lots of mated pairs. Early morning is a crowing fest on a grand level, lots of birds on the move at evening to--I am very encouraged by what I saw

The gal at FSA did not have any enrollment numbers, but I need to go back in & will ask. I was quite shocked at my re-enrollment rental rate. She claimed it went down due to new software that more accurately averaged the soil types. My old contract was $38 + $5 maintenance for $43/A. The new is $31/A total. It almost isn't worth messing with the red tape and just doing my own thing with the land as I see fit.

BYRD I guess you made out like a bandit the first go round then.:D
