Way more birds up where my father inlaw lives near Miller. Good numbers near Presho South Dakota also. I'll be heading that way more often. Just aren't the numbers in Charles Mix that are up that way. We have lined up some land and should be a good shoot this fall.

Check out all these birds

AWESOME sight to see & really gets my blood pumpin, but I don't need all that many to keep me happy...Would probably hyperventilate, pass out or have a heart attack from too much of that!!! :10sign:

Wow, amazing! I was excited last year when I watched 3 roosters flush wild from the field I was hunting.

MAN!! Never seen so many birds. Those guys sure enough do a good job with the habitat and all. But for this old hunter, go out, work your pup, take the good part of the day, get a limit. [sometimes]
This type a hunt? Still not for me, pay, what?? few hundred bucks per day? get your limit in about 10 minutes, appears if you shoot at all maybe take a half an hour. Then what??
What ever?:( You know?

3 day pheasant hunt at the warne ranch for $1895.....no thanks.

Oh I'll agree with you on that. $35.00 per bird on anything over 4 birds/per day. 12 birds $1895.00 OUCH!

Still an impressive site. I seen more birds then that one time years ago near Presho. I seen hundreds of them..like you were driving though a farm yard full of chickens.

It for sure is a testament to what the ultimate can be in South Dakota. It takes certain conditions to produce that.

FYI, a group of 10 came come and hunt week 10 at our camps for $415/person for 4-night lodging and 3-days hunting. Our lodging rate always stays the same at $50/night/person so if you take that out of the rate that is $215/person for hunting 3 days. Divide that by 3 and that is $72/day and divide that by 3 and that is $24/bird.

Very good rates Chris.

@UGUIDE - LOL, I've seen some of your videos & they look pretty dang good to me (except for that last one - are you sure you were drinking coffee the morning when the camera was rolling, I ain't been that seasick with 6-8 ft swells - lot of pretty impressive "chicks" though, hahahaha)...BTW, could you post up a video for us of "man vs dog biscuits"! :D

As far as I'm concerned, you've got the best deal going for a pay-operation - low cost, plenty birds, do-it-yourself w/no high $$$ butt-wiping...I would do it in a heartbeat if I still lived in a state where there were no truly-wild roosters nearby!!!

Kudos to you, landman & all the habitat-oriented boys who are doing your part to help ensure there will always be plenty roosters around somewhere - even if the rest of us can't all come & touch em' for free! I don't know how on earth you manage to make a buck at the prices you charge with the amount of hard work & constant effort you put in???

Do you think that the field in the video was planted with birds before they started shooting the video? If not very impressive.

PM me if anyone wants to go pheasant hunting this year. Access to lots of private land.

Probably cleaned out Pens at end of season, if lodge allows shooting more birds then limit that means it is a hunting preserve and is required to release birds.

Definitely shooting and not hunting.

Loch, absolutely not. I think they were all wild bird but I think that maybe it was staged in late season where the birds had not been hunted much. I don't recall ever seeing abird shot in this video which might support that is was filmed out of season.

Excellent Camouflage

UGUIDE, near as I can tell from the website the Warne Ranches is an incredibly well camouflaged 2400 acre pheasant hunting preserve. The website advertises a 4 bird per day hunt plus $35 for every additional bird. Unless Cody is breaking the law, he is operating under a preserve license. The video is obviously filmed December thru February and is awe inspiring no matter who you are or how often you've hunted pheasants in South Dakota, but aside from looking thru each beak there is no way of knowing how many of those birds are released.

Niceshot why do you have to always be a fun hater. Can't you say anything positive and uplifting.
