First of all, it's devilish hard to film an upland bird show, camera angles, distance, length of time, takes a real dedicated, and strong camera man, and an really good editor. I am thankful that this show is produced. I don't believe I can take another face-painted regiment "shooting" ducks, geese, or doves. I would not go see Ted Nugent when he WAS popular! So to me it's fresh air. pen raised birds are used to provide predictability. In "Wingshooter", it's producer is financed by the Shooting Sports Foundation members, which are a lot of Preserves. "Flush" had a show on last weekend which depicted the oil/development/pheasant triangulation in North Dakota. I hate seeing what it's becoming, but I see why it's happening on a local basis. There are points, that the "Flush" show sighted. Wild birds were hunted, with difficulty, just like the prairie chicken episode in South Dakota. Game and the area have respect! Gets away from the whack and stack mentality we get into on the waterfowl shows. I see the time frame, the difficulty, low bag limits on wild birds, mistakes by shooters and dogs, which are common to us all. That's hunting. No sitting under a bale of wheat stubble, shooting Canada's at 15 yards, who were born a section over in Canada, and have never been shot at or seen a decoy. That's shooting, upland bird, that's hunting. hope we get more, and earn a lot of statues!
