The "Flush" wins Golden Moose award as best bird hunting show

The episode with the power plant was on last year also. Would like to see a little more on all the habitat destruction, and alot less old hunts. Why dont they do anything from the rooster road trips from the PF website.

Would that be Scott Linden and Wingshooting USA?

Not all of his shows are on preserves using pen raised birds. I've never seen pen raised Sharptails or Sage Grouse that i'm aware of. I get your point on pen raised not being very entertaining for the hard core bird hunter to watch on TV, although producing a show where the host visits all areas of the country, wild birds may not be present in enough numbers if at all to produce a show in the limited amount of time available.

I don't think all of the shows are pen raised at all, it is a decent show and most of them are entertaining. But I just don't get him going around the country and traveling as far as he does to a certain destination to hunt pen raised bobwhites and pheasant, and then making it look like a big deal. For the hardcore hunter it doesn't do much for me but at least it's an upland show and it is educational for people who are just getting into it and even people who aren't. Come on American Gun Dog!!

Wingshooting USA is nearly all pen raised birds.

Wow! I really think the show"The Flush" is very positive about our sport that we all love. Jeff Fuller and company are the kind of people I like as friends and hunting buddy's.And he treats his Dogs like buddy s and one of the family. I have hunted with a Grand Master Dogs and I don't care for hunting with Robots, who give you dirty looks if you miss. I also love that he carry s a shotshell with him of his first hunting partner. Some here have to remember the show is also geared to the family and first time hunters. This is the kind of show we need to showcase our great sport......just my two cents...

I agree Cowboybirddogs. I unfortunately don't have the Outdoor channel so it's not often I get to watch the show, but I just had an opportunity to watch the "daybreak blizzard" episode of The Flush. Great show. There was a lot of wild pheasant hunting action with a load of strong flying wild birds caught on video:thumbsup:. PF did a nice job with this show. I look forward to watching more in the near future.:)

First of all, it's devilish hard to film an upland bird show, camera angles, distance, length of time, takes a real dedicated, and strong camera man, and an really good editor. I am thankful that this show is produced. I don't believe I can take another face-painted regiment "shooting" ducks, geese, or doves. I would not go see Ted Nugent when he WAS popular! So to me it's fresh air. pen raised birds are used to provide predictability. In "Wingshooter", it's producer is financed by the Shooting Sports Foundation members, which are a lot of Preserves. "Flush" had a show on last weekend which depicted the oil/development/pheasant triangulation in North Dakota. I hate seeing what it's becoming, but I see why it's happening on a local basis. There are points, that the "Flush" show sighted. Wild birds were hunted, with difficulty, just like the prairie chicken episode in South Dakota. Game and the area have respect! Gets away from the whack and stack mentality we get into on the waterfowl shows. I see the time frame, the difficulty, low bag limits on wild birds, mistakes by shooters and dogs, which are common to us all. That's hunting. No sitting under a bale of wheat stubble, shooting Canada's at 15 yards, who were born a section over in Canada, and have never been shot at or seen a decoy. That's shooting, upland bird, that's hunting. hope we get more, and earn a lot of statues!

Even a number of the PF farm bill biologist at pheasant fest told them to get someone else to do it because they did a horrible job.

I asked a cable guy if I could do something like that. Unfortunately my cable company doesn't have that option. Maybe time to switch over:rolleyes: lol

Can't watch a one of them. Actually like VS. better when they went hockey. Guess outdoor shows are better than pro rodeo, but that is just my opinion.

Whitetail shows are the worst of all. :( probably more pen raised animals than the upland shows.

American Gun Dog

I didn't care for it much since it showed a lot of previously aired material. Oh how I miss American Gun Dog.

What happened to this show? Clearly the best upland hunting program ever. I think Hunting with Hank was another classic. I loved the theme song to that show.

I have the Outdoor channel but haven't watched it for years.
Advertizing and staged hunts.

I can't comment on "The Flush" haven't seen it.
What night and time is it on? I'd like to check it out. :)

From what I've seen it's not staged plus they're chasing wild birds. That's a tough one to stage:). Maybe that's why it's a good show. It's real.

Here's the info on the show;

Thanks Nick, I keep an open mind.
Looks like it is on Sat at 2:30 am and 3:30 pm.
Looking forward to it.

PF TV was tons of recycled material after the first year too. Was disappointed to see that happen with The Flush as well.

Schara & Scherk seem like great people and are certainly assets to conservation. Having said that the formula of the shows never seems to change and after 10 plus years of seeing the same format from MN Bound to PF TV to this new show it is a little stale.

I do record the shows because some of the episodes are gems. I really enjoyed the grouse hunting episode at Kabeelo lodge in Canada. Others I just delete after a few minutes. Especially if as others have mentioned I start to recognize old footage.

American Gun Dog really was the gold standard. Wild birds, lots of variety in dog breeds and bird species, some public land hunts etc. etc.
