Have you taken a non-hunting woman on a hunting trip and had a romantic good time as well as a good hunt? Over the years I've taken three different girlfriends on hunting trips and each enjoyed the hunting experience. Hunting with benefits. It can't be beat. :D

My girlfirend and I went on one of our first dates back in the summer of 1975.... gopher hunting.. I was 16 years old, she was 17. After a couple hours, she said she packed a picnic lunch and wanted to stop and eat. We went to the local old cemetery, and she laid out a blacket and we had a nice lunch. After that, she laid me down and started to make out.. I promptly put a stop to that, as I told her I didnt mess around when I was hunting. She said it was gopher hunting, for cripes sake.. I said I didnt care, it was hunting and back to hunting we went.

She still tells that story, many years later, as my wife of 37 years in February..:)

Edited to add that I wish now, that I hadnt made that rule.;)

Does taking a girl from college in Winona across the River to Wisconsin to shoot rats at the dump count!!!????

I took a ex girl friend to South Dakota a few years back what a disaster.http://www.ultimatepheasanthunting.com/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif It was her idea to go along, she was bored from the get go. Not very romantic at all, she thought I paid more attention to the dogs than her and she was right she never pointed any birdshttp://www.ultimatepheasanthunting.com/forum/images/smilies/10sign.gif NEVER AGAINhttp://www.ultimatepheasanthunting.com/forum/images/smilies/cheers.gif

When my wife and I were dating I took her road hunting one afternoon. Hadn't been out too long when I spotted a rooster down a fence line. I got out walked down the fence line and a rooster flushed. Boom, bird down. Then another flushed. Boom, 2 birds down. Then the 3rd one flushed. Boom, limit on the ground. Picked up my 3 birds and headed back to the vehicle feeling pretty studly. Can't remember any more if I got lucky that afternoon or evening but it still was a good day. :)

:D Have to say I admire you guys to want your GF/Wives to learn to hunt and shoot----

I believe the only reason I'm still alive --is I resisted that temptation with my wife  :)

Forty years in Feb.

I would agree. Funny while dating and probably the first few years with small kids, would pay the price a little for hunting a bunch. Last 15 it is like, be gone as long as you like:). I am grateful that she never wanted to go. She enjoy's the time apart I am sure.:)

Quick question. If you take your spouse out with you and they walk in the field with no gun do they need a license? Minnesota hunting.

Went through hunters Ed again with my new wife. With a bit of coaching, she passed. She always wondered what was so special about getting up before dark to hunt turkeys or doves. Dove season rolled around and as I'm on my way out she says she wants to go. Got to dove field, saw the sun come up, had a deer walk by a 10 yards. No doves, finally a dove rolls by, I shoot 2 times, missed, she's 20 yards away ducking with an arm full of sunflowers! No doves, but got a good center piece. Nap later was nice!

MN---Not assisting in hunt ie; handling dogs--making drives ect--No license needed==

S.D.--No firearm--no license needed--can even ass't --dog handle ect--:)

I taught my current wife how to shoot a shotgun. It was painful and I was much more patient then. Hundreds of rounds of 20b shells before she became proficient but now she will break 20-22 out of 25 when we shoot blue rock.
I still remember her first planted chukar and then her first wild quail and first wild rooster. She used to go with me all of the time but doesn't like all of the walking without either seeing anything or being able to shoot anything. She loved SD a few years ago and it spoiled her for hunting in Nebraska.
She loves the dogs (probably more that me since she says she is taking all of them if we ever get a divorce), loves guns and really likes to dove and duck hunt.
She's my best friend and I would rather travel with her that anyone else.

My wife and I have been enjoying color tours in northern Michigan for 30 yrs. Always the first or second weekend of Oct depending on how far north we go.....1st weekend peak color in the U.P., 2nd weekend peak in the northern lower. She enjoys walking the two tracks while me and the pups are working the thick stuff alongside for grouse and woodies. Although she doesn't carry a gun, she's watched me take a number of birds. And the times before our girls were born always included a quickie against the side of the truck after the hunt :D

One of the funniest times was when we had finished a hunt and I was putting the dogs and gun up, she said I have to go pee and wandered a short distance into the woods beside the truck. I no sooner got the 16 ga cased, when I hear a grouse flush and her scream. She had just lowered her jeans and started to squat when a grouse flushed from a tree about 5' away from her :p She came back and said "who needs dogs when you've got me" I replied "And I like the way you point better"
