No More Public Land

This is just one of many reasons I support the legal hunting of public rights-of-way in SD.If Joe the mechanic gets turned down when he knocks on the door,he still has a place to hunt where he does not have to answer to anyone. My first question to out-of-staters who are anti is "How much are you willing to pay for a hunting license and access"?Just ban road hunting and see how much your license fees rise when the thousands of locals and out-of-staters who do it,stop coming. When you take Joe and his Bro from Mn Jack out of the game, common sense says the ones that have a place to hunt are left have to take up the slack.Besides,it's our business,so just take care of business at home. You know, live and let live.

Lots of good posts guys, Right on the money Rancho and oldandnew

That right there is the problem.."Their" county. Who's county? The peoples county We the people own all the county and state lands. It's about time they stop being treated as certain people's "Private Property"

I agree with you, onpoint, but.....in some circles that sort of thinking will get you branded as a communist/socialist, tree-hugging, anti-capitalist.

For some folks everything has to be all about the money. National parks? Sell 'em to the highest bidder and use the money to cut my taxes. Public lands paid for from state revenues? Nonsense. Sell 'em off and cut my taxes. Public schools, roads, rural mail delivery? Cut 'em all and cut my taxes. Health care? Let 'em die and cut my taxes.

Wars against countries which have never threatened or attacked us, like Iraq? Go gettum boys, but don't tax me to pay the bill.

Not too many years ago the great progressive State of North Dakota elected a good many populists to public office.

No more. These days you have to step to the "no new taxes" drum or be shunned and banned.

I'm glad I won't be around to see the result of this inane selfishness.

Let's not forget wars, meddling, rebel rousing, and involvement in;
Afghanistan
Iran
Pakistan
Libya
Syria
Russia
Egypt
And God only knows where else. Mean while using the blood of our solders (in some cases) and our tax $ get it done.

Seems we're attempting to topple any gov't that gets in the way of a new world order. Of course doing it all in the name of our saftey:rolleyes:

It often seems that people that do not want taxes cut are the ones not paying them.

LOL! That's a good point, KB. The folks who pay the highest taxes, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, think the rich are being taxed too little.

And Joe, the unemployed plumber who pays nothing, thinks he's paying too much.

 LOL!!

you left out probably left out two or three dozen other places that we are messing around in. You have to remember there is big money in war mongering. From the politicians who gain their power from it, to the defense contractors who make the gross profits with inside deals. They all love keeping us in this perpetual fear of this unknown enemy, who probably would have far less hate for us if we were not involved in everybody else's business. If the world was ever deemed safe, many of these people would cease to be relevant. Meanwhile my dollar buys me less and less, and our country goes deeper and deeper in debt.

OK guys, I just read the last post here to see what was going on. Can somebody please tell me what this has to do with South Dakota, Pheasant Hunting and Public Hunting?

Well.....the thread was about public land. Public of course means paid for with tax money....and whether the State or Fed g'mint should collect tax money to pay for things like public hunting land, an expense which all may be taxed for, but only some enjoy...sort of like food stamps....unemployment compensation....interstate highways....public schools...stupid wars....missions to the moon....public radio....rural mail delivery...Medicaid...early education...Social Security...heating assistance...education grants - things which benefit only a portion of us, but which we all pay for.

I'm sure you understand.

So what's your opinion, should taxpayer money fund public hunting land?

Thanks for clarifying Jnorman and yes, I do understand and agree that we taxpayers pay for a lot of things we don't necessarily want or always agree with. I would say that's a "given".
