Great Forum , look forward chatting with all of you . Here are 3 off my Girls I have been running Britts for right at 35 Years .

Looks like you have a pretty good crew for getting after the birds.
Nice looking chicken hanging there.

Hello and welcome.
I got my first LPC last year, just in time for the Feds to shut it down this season. I saw more chickens last year than I had seen in the last ten years before. I have theory on the subject but will keep my mouth shut.( learning as I get older)

Yeah that was all BS

The past 2-3 years when I concentrated on chickens and hunting their habitat I found more of them during the season by far than I would pheasants or quail.

They did poorly during the drought but everything did - if anything was built to survive it, they were. I'd like to get a stamp with the Word "HABITAT" on it and smash it on peoples foreheads when they make the musing, I sure dont know where the birds went or sure dont understand why I'm not seeing as many birds as I used to. Dont know if it'd solve much but I'd sure feel better.

Welcome fellow Kansan. Nice photo of your dogs fresh off the job. Tell us about your season.

It had its ups and downs , Started out getting my friends boys their limit of Roosters the first day of you season .

Chicken Numbers seem to be up in quite a few areas . Pheasants down where I have most of my permission , quail up some in that area .

I shot a limit of quail this year for the first time in 3 years or so , we moved 6 coveys and had good single work .

I hope mother nature is kind through the winter and we have good brood rearing conditions and start and upward trend here in Kansas .

How has your season been so far BritChaser ?

I have to say poor as far as Kansas goes. Recently I have had the good fortune to begin the season in South Dakota in October where bad years are as good as good years here. I have hunted four weekends in NW KS beginning with opening weekend and have bagged four pheasants out of just five knocked down. I also bagged a tom turkey the last weekend I pheasant hunted (earlier this month) with one shot on pheasant. I have seen a couple of quail coveys but have not had a shot.

Welcome KS, I have been hunting behind Britts for about the same. sounds like you had a good season.

It was an up-tick in Quail numbers for sure , pheasants are rebounding but still have a ways to go .

Getting out with the Britts this year has been great .

I look forward to hearing about your hunts and Dogs !!!!

Dang that's a pretty good haul from Illinois !!! How is the pheasant hunting up your way ? I know at one time pheasant hunting was a big deal in your state , I think I had read close to a million birds bagged in the 60 ?
