My Pheasant Hunting Farewell

Wow, I hope I can go out while hunting AND while retired. In my opinion, those are some extremely lucky men. Your post makes it seem that you have a better idea on the way to leave this life. Those fellas left just as I want to.
Just took the kids to two nursing homes trick or treating. We work all our lives to get a bunch of stuff and end up in a room with very little possessions. No thanks. I wanna go out without having to think about going out.

Wow,!what a great run Dakotazep! Cherish the memories and continue to share your knowledge on here for us greenhorns.

I am closing in on 65 and this year I decided to give up archery hunting after 50 years. My shoulder was having issues, where I hunted whitetails the landowners died, houses are popping up everywhere. I have my young pup that I wanted to get out for birds. Shooting my bow last spring was more of a chore than enjoyment. Archery hunting is a commitment, that I didn’t really feel I needed.

I sold all my archery equipment and it was really tough. It was like retiring it made me feel old, and a bit defeated. This fall I have concentrated on birds and am really enjoying it.

Some day it will be bird hunting. Congrats on going out on your terms. I cant help but think of all the changes you have seen.
