mnmthunting,
wow! What great pics!
Your old pump gun? Winchester Model 12.
My father had one...now my brother and I share it. Affectionately called "the cannon"! Full choke and long barrel!
Looks like a ol Mossy 500 with lots of stories to tell. Nice pics..Love a good story MN-MT...you do it just like I like to do it. Combo hunt, the old school way...sleep in the truck..enjoy what the good Lord provided for us.
That is an old Mossberg model 500. Bought it new with my trapping money. 70 bucks if I remember correctly. I was 14 and the year was 1964. On the way to Audubon Iowa. Man there where a ton of pheasants in those days.
Yeah the old gun has been a good one, full choke, and I shoot purty good with it.
I've shot lead and steel through it for years, doesn't seem to hurt?
I do have other shotguns and have hunted with a few, just nothing shoots like that old Mossberg.
Thanks for the comments Y'all:cheers:
Believe it or not, the Pup was still going strong, even after 6 days of hunting. Not tired just weird.
My topper is a 89 model, very much used!
I recon I've spent 500 plus nights in the camper. -20 was the coldest, I ain't gonna do that again.
Here's a couple more pics from the latest trip, 4th day etc.
There are areas with a lot of Huns, don't see much of them in pheasant habitat.
Sharptails are here and there, I take a trip in Sept to hunt Sharpies and Huns. I pass on the Sharptails while pheasant hunting.
Don't want to carry them, don't want to clean them. Like to see them and have the pup work.
I'm off and running again folks. With the days getting shorter I want to leave home 3-4 in the morning. That way 4-5 hours of hunting before dark.
See Y'all late next week.
Just got back from my third trip. Was another good one. Now it's wet out there, nothing like the Montana gumbo.
Got more Pheasants and Huns and big, fat Mallards.
Also scored on a good, heavy Mule Deer Buck, Antlers and body.
More pics to come.
