there's going to be some fine pups at a reasonable price late September-
different colored female- but she a natural- and pretty close to the line I have -said maybe we should run them both in a bird field and tape some-

they really liked this big fella

I know what you mean. Rocky was a machine also. One of those "once in a lifetime" dogs. Although my 2 year old female (Elle) has the potential to become one of those dogs also. I had to put Rocky down just a few weeks short of his 13th birthday. I cried for a week and for several months any time someone would so much as mention his name I'd tear up.

right- my daughter doesn't think I'll ever have a dog like him- I go "hold on their Jaff, I have two males now"

she shouts- course she took him for her morning jog in Jacksonville when we visited her- her words- he trotted right by my side the whole way and I took the leash off

holly crimminy Jaff- he never stays close- you could have lost him
her words " dad, you don't know your dogs as well as you think"

and I think I'll be seeing Elle this season- she sure is a beauty

Thanks guys, I'm proud of him. He does like a bath but for the next few months baths will be when he jumps outa the duckblind into the slough, and the blowdry comes on the boat ride back to the landing.:D

Teal season starts here in Sept. so we are working on those things now.

His grandpa was Black Bart. Ska de St Tugen on both sides of his pedigree. Got him at 10 weeks and 10 pounds. Took him 10 minutes to start humping our old Golden. Like so many Brits he's a bird hunting machine. He'll be 9 next week.

Rocky, the dog in the picture I got from a friend in Pueblo, CO. He had both the sire and dam. Neither had much of a pedigree. But Rocky's sire was a heck of a hunter too.

Your Britts must be Frenchies, right? Good looking bunch.

Yep, Frenchies. Got the orange and white female from your neck of the woods, down in Armour.

The tricolor male came out of Montana. The black and white girls are out of the orange and white female and the tricolor's half brother.

Rocky had some features that were characteristic of the Calembour line in his coat. I know a couple of guys that had dogs from that line and the coat was distinctive. That curly coat and facial profile. At that time they were all being bred without the French tag. Although he's sitting, Rocky looked like he was pretty cobby.

I'd rather have a pup from parents that hunt rather than just a bunch of show titles, although a pretty dog is nice to have.

I feel like I hit the jackpot with mine, on both a hunting and companionship basis.
 
Sallysue, can we get an update and pic of the watchulhund? I'm sure she is quite the looker.

Hey, everybody, thanks for making this little thread so nice with the fantastic pictures of the dogs, especially the ones taken afield. The pics of the dogs on point are awesome. They help a frustrated hunter on a blazing summer day, yet another of many that will see 100 degrees. <big sigh> Thinking about getting out this fall makes for lovely visions in one's mind. #;-)

Yes there are. I was just commenting that my first criteria is hunting ability and given the choice I'd take it over conformation. Nothing wrong with a dog that doesn't have a highly titled background if it hunts and is healthy. My dogs do have both in their lines.

My orange female's father has both field and show titles. Titled parents/ancestors are no guarantee of natural ability, but they sure give you a good idea where to start looking.
