Looking for a new hunting vehicle

They wouldn't be allowed to use the atv on public land in SD though, right? Other than a trail down to the water on a wpa? I guess I don't remember checking for that in SD, but in MN, almost all WMAs don't allow vehicles past the parking location.
Not unless they are using it for waterfowl decoys and possibly if they have a handicap permit

There’s a contingent of landowners out there who are supportive of alternative lifestyles, and look forward to granting access to them. The whole pronoun thing is popular with those landowners as well. Hunters who are transitioning are probably popular, too…like from deer to birds, for example. Rainbow camo would be good…

I can just imagine one of these guys transitioning to a female going up to a farm, that would be hilarious.

Thinking of the 2026 Suburban High Country. Should I stick with the 6.2L V8 engine? I want to go this route because it has the 18" screen with built in google, so that I can get all the waypoints downloaded for hunting spots. Plus 5G wi-fi, bluethooth, and sirius XM. And I think it'll have enough power to tow my ski boat and my dog trailer + side by side so that I don't actually have to walk anywhere. Heated seats, heated steering wheel, cameras for backup, frontup, and every which way. Wireless apple car play and every other Gucci feature you could want. Going full leather on the seats of course. I'll take it straight out to Hilger Montana to hunt my german speaking dogs on prairie birds. How was the hatch this year?

That's really highbrow, you should be an English squire...
After 3 Suburbans I switched to a smaller Chevy Colorado. Benefits and drawbacks to both. My Colorado is easier to navigate on narrow trails and roads and a lot easier to turn around. It also has front and rear locking differential and higher clearance. Colorado with diesel gets about 24 mpg on highway but cost for fuel is higher, so probably a wash. I loved my 2001 Suburban Z71 but my 2018 Colorado is tough to beat for a hunting vehicle for me and my 2 dogs.
I drove one of those, but it wasn't big enough for me.

Don't laugh, but I finally tracked down my dream pheasant hunting rig with limited miles in showroom condition earlier this year;

the 1995-1999 Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban with the 5.7L engine. To me, the perfect hunting vehicle for birds.

The ambulance/barn doors on the back for letting the dogs in and out, the open front seat (not the massive middle electronics console that everything in the last 15-20 years has) so you can have the shotgun laying next to you in the front seat, strong reliable engine that's easy to work on if anything comes up.

I put a 4-inch lift on it, bigger tires, and the ARB front bumper with a winch, I can't wait to break it in for pheasant season next week!!

That's awesome. My daughter ask me a couple years ago if I wanted to buy her low miles early 2000's Taho. I'm still kicking myself for not buying it. Size wise about perfect for two guys and 2-4 dogs.

My buddy bought a slightly used f 150 with the newer 9 speed transmission. It went out at 20000 miles. Still under warranty thank goodness.

It's hard to know what to get these days. It seems like all new the new trucks are having issues with transmissions, regardless of brand.
