Well we'll see if this finally worked! If so thanks for the help and now I'll know how to do it and I'll get some better pics! If you look close they go down past the picture on the wall, can't see the big bow in them either from this angle. But if it works I'll get better ones. Thanks again!

No problem, glad you got it figured out.

Nice looking tail for sure! Looks like you have another one mounted next to it if my eyes don't deceive me.

Thanks guys for the help! I'm lucky it looks good the dog retrieved it without a mark, normally clamps down if their still kickin and I've got pics of him retrieving birds this year right when he stepped on the tail feathers and pulled one out....any how I'll get one that shows how far the come off the wall over the bench! Happy Halloween..... Almost time to get out of stand!

If that is not a crossbow quarrel, that is a damn long tail!!! :p

Looks great, and is a real trophy.

Not sure about the spurs, just remember they were not proportionate to the body size, I think my other mount was rounded off and these were more on the straight pointy sharp???

Rounded spurs mean young of year. Thin, sharp hooks means an older rooster.

How do the spurs sharpen over the years? I would have thought it the other way around in all honestly.

My friends dad planted a huge ass rooster, the kind that lives on a chicken farm, not the pheasant farm, one year for a joke. We ended up shooting it and we were so glad we did. The spurs on that thing were HUGE! If one of the dogs would have gotten into a tangle with that crabby old rooster, we would have been taking it to the vet. We joked that there was raptor (dinosaur) in its family tree Lol!

They add new growth every year so they just keep getting longer, thinner and sharper. I keep a few game roosters around free roam so hawks and other predators don't mess with my hens. I had one who was a mean old bastard and would fight anything or anyone anytime. I used to soccer kick that sucker across the yard all the time and he'd just run back for more lol. I miss that old rooster.:D

Here's a 25"ish from the other morning, slipped me two days in a row by flying directly at a house. No show the 3rd day. Took a different angle with a nw wind and finally got him. Amazing how small of an area they call home. My son shot one last night, flushed from almost the same place as one flushed the night before. Does anyone else notice this pattern with birds?

Nice tail feathers for Ringnecks.

Anybody but me had the pleasure to hunt Reeves in china? Not bragging But got a tail feather 2.3 Meters long. Just saying why you put so much importances on the sizes of the tail?

I guess it's like people that hunt for horns. I do not care how big the horns are, I want meat in my Freezer. The horns taste like S$iT.

I don't care for the taste of horns either but my dogs think they're the greatest chew toys ever.

Man! You guys got some nice looking birds up there! Congrats!

for any of the members that read the prior post i had about deweybaggers 28.5 inch feathers i have & already did apologized to dewey in a PM & will do it here as well i will eat crow & admit i was wrong or look to be dead wrong when i am wrong & that pic he has of the last fews birds pretty much shuts me up...

like i told him i thought he was 1 of the guys we get on here that posts 1-2 things & its always a trophy pic or comments of how many birds they shot & you never here from them again... that is not the case with dewey & it looks like he will be sticking around & i did not detour him from further posts thats great...

like i said dewey i do apologize to you & look forward to further post of giant reves like pheasants from northern WI i will be taking my friend up on his offer to hunt that area looks like pretty blue backed pheasants there???

Thanks guys, we do have some nice birds here but very few numbers, you need a excellent dog and have to be driven just like him! We might have to hunt 4 hrs just to see a rooster on public land, and that could be after a 400 yrd zig zag fest chasing a runner! I think our bird count was like .36 birds seen per 100 miles driven, that's bad! I think by our cabin it was in the top 3 in the state at something like .87 per 100 miles. No 20 bird flushes here in cheese land! Like someone stated earlier they are more of a prize here because there isn't many! I hear its tough all over this year with low numbers, seems just normal here. Good luck to all, off to the deer stand!
