Long tail feathers?

The only real releases I know about on public land out here are for youth/ lady hunts but they release a ton of birds and some make to other hunters bags weeks or even months later.

Small mun.

You ever hunted pheasants in the north west part of Wi?

Hint:The state ain't releasing Pheasants there like you write.

Plenty of Wild pheasant hunting in Wi for the ambitious.

28 does seem pretty damn long for a wild bird.

Wisturkey - I know for fact the state release birds each year in Chippewa a nd marathon counties. In fact Chippewa is supposed to get over 1000 birds this fall.

I agree a 28" feather is extreme and would live to see a picture of it.

I stand by what I said despite you finding 1 county they stock birds in. A county that is farther east than I had in mind and where he hunts for deer and turkeys.

It is nothing at all like what he said up there but if you feel the need to try to prove me wrong go ahead.

I mean I've only hunted up there for pheasants I'm not just guessing on the internet.

Sorry I put this on here, didn't want to start a bitch festival. Read a few other forums where guys were shredding others about bullets, guns, dogs, chokes etc. seemed like pheasant hunting loving people on here that have hunted all over(which I have not) that would share their story's about something special they shot. I'm not a tec guy and I'm not about to text a pic to someone from my phone with crabby people like smlo, don't care if you don't believe it, don't know you, it's on my wall and that's all that matters to me. Yes wis releases birds in certain county's it's on the DNR web site but no where close to me. This bird was killed on private land my friend has 1/2 mile from my cabin as I stated before. Good luck to the rest of you this season. Smlo the reason our public land sucks because pricks like you drive across the St. Croix river

Thinking back on it I believe I lied when I said I've shot a 24-25" bird. This is probably my longest one and I'd estimate his tail is no longer than 22". Yes the one on the left is wild and yes the one on the right is a plant. Damn crappy Ca land anyways.

Sorry about that dewey,

I know you're bird was longer than anything I'll ever shoot, and don't doubt that they exist.
If these knobs:D could figure out how to use the search key :p they'd see talk of 28 and 30s being mentioned.
Come back, we're not always like this.:)

a 29 just for giggles.

Actually some are always like this. Man who cares how long the guy's tail was and whether it was wild or not. I personly saw one over 27 shot in south dakota last year in december. I believe it was 27.5. Years ago in phillupsburg ks the contest was won by a kid that shot a bird that was like 30. Who cares. Enjoy the stories and play nice.:)

I was postive my dog was trailing a pheasant and imagine my surprise when this ugly bastard flushed, decent tail feathers though. Smo and Wisturkey will enjoy this one.

QH. Still looks good to me! You guys should try being laid up for a season, and just getting to see what everybody else is doing. As so soon as I get my new foot I plan to start to get back at it hard, to get in shape for next year! You can't hunt from a bed! I really miss being in the field, enjoy it while you folks can, wild or otherwise!

Don't sweat it and be scared off by the haters, or experts as they would like to be called. They appear in every thread around here.

I have never measured a tail feather in my life, but just for the hell of it, I measure the one from a bird I shot about a month ago. Wasn't the biggest weight wise but the tail is close to 23". I never really thought of it as a "long" tail, so I don't see why 28" wouldn't be possible. I dare to say the rooster I shot on Saturday was a lot heavier and had a longer tail.

Send a moderator a message to clean up all the "lame" fishing talk and Wisconsin public land insight from the out of state resident who must have problems speaking to private land owners, and then post your pic.

Would love to see it.
