Hettmoe how's the winter been up there? I read an article on Pheasants Forever's facebook page about some red-ice issues with pheasants somewhere in Nd (within the last month or so). I'm not sure how wide-spread it was.

I guess I don't really know what red-ice is. We have lost alot of pheasants to the heavy snow of late Nov and early Dec. I have never seen this many dead birds this early in the Winter, and we had alot of cold weather that has been hard on them as well. Sloughs in my area that are usually a great Winter hideout for pheasants are completely covered. And I do mean completely. Many birds did not crawl out of the nice hiding places they were in.
Actually, I have not been very far from home this Winter, but I am hoping things are better in most places. The central part of the state sounds like it has the most snow, but the Eastern part had alot of rain and ice prior to the snow.
We will celebrate the birds that are still here- as we celebrate the people who are still here- and I will continue to try to capture their beauty as part of my therapy And always remember to take a little time for howlin' at the moon
