Kansas

I'm sure I could, but I'm not to big into the huge groups of hunters thing. But I guess since this is a one time thing I could hang out for awhile. I guess we will see

I'm sure you have all heard this before, but when I hunt with people I tell them that I have 2 rules. Rule #1- don't shoot my dogs! Rule #2- don't shoot me! If you break rule #1, be prepared to break rule#2!!! :D When I hunt with a group of people I worry about my dogs as much as I worry about myself.

No doubt. Owning a dog would be a pre-requisite for hunting behind mine if it weren't for the responsibility of introducing new people to the sport. I'm always very nervous when I hunt with new people for the same reason.

BTW JayhawkJ, excellent rules.....I hadn't heard those yet, but I do plan to use them.

I never hunt with more than one or two other hunters, which keeps the lead out of my face etc. Big groups with guy's that don't spend much time in the field, are nervous or jumpy, or don't know how to handle firearms can get folks/or dogs hurt. In public area I often leave the dog in the kennel if things look dicey.

Question: How do you guys paste clips of people's posts on here, when you want to comment specifically on that portion???

@Jayhawk - Well said! If anyone breaks rule #1, they dang sure better be quick on the draw to break rule #2 be4 I do!!!

@KB - I very clearly understood your small-group breakout/scramble rule for the hunting end of things from the get-go...I would enjoy hunting a bit with a couple quickly & carefully sized-up compatible fellow participants, or will do just fine enjoying all day exploring new territory with the pooch on our own if we have to! Count me in on the hot-lunch/s & evening tavern bullshoots though!!!

Actually it was all the jaw-jacking I was referring to when I HALF-jokingly said I hoped it didn't turn into a 100-man "my world-class dog/pony is better than yours" show!!! :p

I just wanna have a little fun meeting some new people & closing out the season with some class-act dog-&-rooster fanatics from this UPH forum!
