k9 influenza

So my doctor said that I should do the k9 Influenza vaccination on my new GSP puppy. I'm kinda skeptical about it. What do you guys think? Does anybody else vaccinate for k9 influenza? The vet is also recommending lyme vaccination which I think would probably be a good idea since I spend a lot of time in the timber with ticks.

My dogs are vaccinated from influenza via the 5 way shot. I am not sure if it is the best way to go, but it is what I do.

I have never had a dog get Lymes and hope it never happens. I have been getting them vaccinated but every time I do, it seems to be really hard on the dog. They just aren't themselves for a couple of days.

I give the 5-way and a rabies. That's it. And even at that I feel we are vaccinating our dogs way too much. And another bone I have to pick is the vets that try to sell you everything once they have you in the door. They want to test for this and test for that, vaccinate for this and for that. It's really turned into a racket. Whatever happended to the good ol' vet like my friend in Colorado that takes care of you but doesn't try to force everything on you??

I agree. Then they halfway treat you like an animal abuser if you don't want all the " extras".

If your Vet treats you like that find another one.

Most dog owners are choosing not to vaccinate because most dogs recover from the flu with mild symptoms. I can't recomend what to do as I do not live near you or understand how much this is a problem in your area. I would research the amount of cases documented in your area and then make your decission.
